Now, several months later...
I was very excited to learn that there were, in fact, mosquito 'nets' for patio umbrellas. i looked for quite a while before i settled on this one. the set-up wasn't that bad. although with only one person to do the work, i had to do a little 'calculus' to see exactly how it could be done. i realized that with the edge of the 'net' just inches above the bottom edge of the umbrella, there was little room for error. having lost my last umbrella to unexpected winds, (and we have big expected ones here in florida also), i knew they can't always just stay open. i figured that with the necessity of taking the umbrella up and down, i would just clip the net to the bottom edge of the umbrella with clothes pins (but you could anything that would be more 'decorative'), thereby avoiding the entire setup each time. I mean, if i had to spend 10 - 15 minutes each time i wanted to go out for a drink under the umbrella, i'd never use it. i did clip them together all the way around using about 15 clothespins. however, even with the umbrella mostly down, the winds blew the net off the umbrella and it lay there on the patio for about 5 weeks until i had the time to figure out and implement another method. this time, i put the umbrella up and put the net over it and on top, arranging it to be perfectly spaced all around. then i used medium sized safety pins to pin the net to the umbrella every 6" or so - putting the safety pins on the underside of the umbrella so they wouldn't be visible from the outside.also, having read people's comments about the zipper breaking after using it, i decided to buy black tulle fabric in about the same size weave as the net, and pin it over the zipper area. the tulle is about 50" wide so there is about 25 inches overlapping the zipper on either side. i leave the zipper open and just lift the tulle to get in and out. (i explained to the cat how to get in and out and he seems okay with it)now, if all this sounds ridiculous, you're right. this is a ridiculous design and a ridiculous amount of effort to make this thing work, but, i had to since i already purchased it and because I'm in Florida where the mosquitoes can carry one off....i didn't find anything else that was designed any better and there are so many possibilities for a better design. would it cost an additional $20.? i'm fine with that. i've already spent several hours and more money on supplies for a product that is supposed to be ready to go out of the box. Oh, and about the water thing at the bottom? i haven't even addressed it. the net seems to stay down without the water where I am. Maybe i'll try it some time but right now it looks like it could become another project that I don't have time for.So, I can't say how it worked after I did all that, for I only finished it yesterday, but I'm hoping I'll be able to use it without any more re-engineering...

Great Look
Looks nice. Easy to set up (although smaller than expected). Did not completely cover my umbrella from top to bottom.
