A reasonably well-written deconstructive parody.
If one wants to get into writing spy fiction, it is important to consider all possible ways in which the tropes for the genre can be utilized. This series is an appropriate way to explore how those tropes can be deconstructed, especially for comedic purposes.

Mature Content for Children
This book contains mature content, and it is disappointing. The rest of the books in this series were great!

Not wholesome content for 8-12 yr olds
We were very disappointed in the content of this book. It is definitely not content I want my 8-12 yr old boy reading. Up until now, all of Stuart Gibbs books have been decent. My son said besides the fact that it wasn’t as well written as the older ones, lgbtq content was added unnecessarily…it’s a book about spies and not needed!!

incredibly accurate
I have been reading this series since the first book came out when I was a little kid, and it has never gotten boring. The humor, the realism of the characters and their relationships, the detail, it kept me hooked. I was born and raised my whole life in the bush of Alaska, another in a long line. I love my home, and the author’s attention to detail is astounding. Most people don’t know jack about Alaska, but of the many details the author included, I couldn’t find one inaccuracy. Our climate, environment, history, lifestyle, lingo wildlife, aspects of our culture, the way the cold sharpens your senses and mind, our problematic relationship with the Russians, etc was all so spot on. I’ve always loved this series for a lot of reasons, and while I am definitely super biased, I think this is the best book yet. Thank you Stuart Gibbs, from me and my little sister who love your books.
