Wileyfox Spark X 16GB with 2GB RAM 5.5" HD (Dual SIM 4G) SIM-Free Smartphone Android - Black

Wanted a phone with at least 2 GB Ram, 16 GB on the ROM, expandable memory, removable/replaceable battery, unlocked at a reasonable price. Looked around for a month quoted £350-£450 to buy then most did not have removable/replaceable battery plus unable to expand the memory.Had heard about Wileyfox a few months ago, had friend who had one for 5 months with no problems, saw the spec of the new Spark X which meet my requirements plus it had a dual sim and a 3000mah battery.The price was £109.99 before the launch date from Amazon.Ok it did not have a mains charger or headphones but that is a plus for me, always buy headphones (ones supplied with phones are usually rubbish) have the charger from my old Samsung phone, in fact we have several chargers from old phones which would be ok.EU reg's made manufactures fit a standard socket a few years ago (not sure about Apple phones, but they always want to be different). Ordered the phone received it on 17th Oct inserted my Sim, fitted 32GB into the expandable memory slot, fitted battery which was charged, switched on, phone updated software, loaded some apps, worked ok, no problem with signal strength was the same as my previous phone called a couple of friends who said the reception was good.Went abroad for a couple of days used a local Sim in the spare slot no problems.Had the phone for 5 days now with no problems, ok in some places the signal strength is lower but it was the same with my old phone.Leaflet with diagrams showing battery installation,back cover removal,Sim memory slots,switches, no manual. But if you have used an Android phone before, after a few hours I was able use install all the basic apps I required.Then over a couple of days modify the phone/app settings to my requirements.Charging cable to a USB socket included have used it for charging via a Laptop USB socket with no problems. The phone was supplied fitted with a plastic screen protector.Have the black phone looks good and well made,easy to hold,not heavy, is 5.5 inch screen but fits in my front trouser pocket ok and is not bulky.As for the camera, takes pictures that look good, as for quality well I am not a professional photographer and have not had the time to compare, so can not comment, bought a smart phone that takes pictures not a camera to talk with.One thing that could be improved is the method for removing the back cover.The only way I have found to release the back cover is to put a miniature screwdriver blade just under the cover at the charging port socket release the clips there then use finger nail to release the other back clips.But be careful not to damage the charging port socket.Why not put an indentation on the edge of the back cover like they did on the Samsung phones so they you could use your finger nail to release the back cover clips.The Dual Sim a definite plus means I will be removing the back cover a few times to fit local cards.Very impressed with the phone after 5 days no problems would recommend it to my friends, at the price I paid a real bargain you will not find anything at this spec/quality/price

I bought this phone after my Samsung galaxy s4 broke, not having much cash and seeing this with a similar spec to the s4 at a nice price (£133) I took a gamble.Well I've only had the phone for 2 days and it was worth the punt. The screen is bright and very clear, it handles normal web browsing and apps like Facebook with ease and quickly.The camera works well, its reasonabley fast and the photos come out clear.If you don't like the idea of those free games you download looking at your contacts/SMS messages because they have permissions you can tell the phone to block them! Its nice to keep your personal stuff personal!I've been using the phone all day with average use its been off charge for 14 hours and I still have 44% left.The phone feels a lot more expensive than it is and my colleagues at work laughed when I ordered it but they weren't laughing when it rocked up and saw it in action yesterday, they were very surprised.The only downside I could say about it is the speaker is a little on the quiet side for listening to video/music it's not too bad but its not what I'm used to with the Samsung.It also isn't filled with a the usual bloatware apps that other manufacturers force you to have on their phones.Banking apps work well and simple games like cut the rope and angry bird are fine, but don't get this if you are thinking of running any graphically intense games as you may be disappointed.Hopefully this review will help some of you.Edit 28/12/16The phone slipped out of my hands yesterday hit the floor and the screen smashed to pieces with a tough screen protector on it! The screen glass was very thin and no wonder it broke so easily, I contacted wileyfox to see if they would do a repair, they wanted between £60-£90 :-( the phone only cost £130). I contacted amazon and they said they would replace the phone free or charge. great customer service from amazon but very poor from wileyfox. I'll think twice from now on when looking in to a less well known brand.

OK so the review below that I originally did gave this 5 stars, but since Wileyfox's move away from Cyanogen this phone is now rubbish. Locks you in to third party apps (including for making calls). What was a good phone for the price that let you really control security and permissions of apps but is now a heap of useless. Add to that the camera is absolutely pants - not user error have had others try and there is no such thing as a clear/focussed photo with this Wileyfox. Speaker is woeful. All in all I would avoid now and am looking for a new phone.================For the price point this is an excellent phone. Five stars based on bang for your buck.On the plus side nice big clear screen which is the same size as an iPhone 6s. Nice android experience with no slow running even though I've had it running without reboot for a month. Amazing battery life and I usually have 15% left at the end of the day even when I make lots of calls and play Candy Crush for hours. Dual Sim is ideal if you don't want to carry a separate work phone.Downsides, well the in built speaker is very quiet compared to most phones but fine for average home listening. The camera isn't the best but that could be user error:)By the way I highly recommend the official wileyfox case for the Spark X (I bought mine direct from wileyfox as they weren't on Amazon at the time) as it has a magnetic back like some kindle cases so you can fold it and use it as a stand.
