Go Into Battle Properly Armed!!
This is by far the best mole trap - dont buy cheap imitations - but make sure you read and understand the instructions in the video fully. I have a large garden and the considerable area of lawn is annually attacked by moles. I have tried all sorts of things to keep them off it: - moth balls, bleach tablets, urinal blocks placed in their runs - all semi effective. Broken up Alka Seltzer tablets seem good but the most effective DETERRENT treatment I have found is to use a weak solution (1:30) of Jeyes fluid in a watering can (without the rose) and go around the edge of the lawn about once a month all year round and place used tea bags soaked in the Jeyes solution in the old runs. Broken up Alka Seltzer tablets seem to work particularly well. All these seem to keep most of the blighters out of the lawned areas but when a bold and brave mole breaks through the Talpex trap is the most effective last line of fortification!! I have three Talpex traps now and wish I had bought them several years ago instead of more conventional claw traps. Moles are a formidable foe, and I realise I am up against superior odds, but I am now winning the battles and the Talpex traps are definitely making it a more even contest now. Before the Talpex traps I had 9 claw traps and 2 tunnel traps in operation but they were not as effective as the Talpex.

Good, strong, simple.
I'm impressed. It worked well. It's solid. Watch the video. Additionally I'd advise wearing gloves. Be careful not to leave any human smell on the trap. I didn't set it deep enough the first time so it went off without catching the mole. I watched the video again and realised that the 'claws' or scissor arms needed to be deeper than I'd set them. So the second time I caught the solitary mole that had been giving me grief all summer. I'd recommend it.

Very Impressive at catching those difficult 'trap shy' moles
I have had some success in the past with a Scissor Trap, modified as suggested on one web site so that it can catch moles, but over the last couple of months I have had two moles that seem to be rather trap shy. So after reading 'A Review of the common types of mole trap and a few others' I thought it might be an idea to try the Talpex trap.It arrived promptly and after viewing the on-line video, I realised there could be a problem with obtaining the sieved soil, as our ground is stony and also sopping wet! I thought that I may as well have a go anyway and placed the trap in the failed scissor trap hole and just packed soil inside it. Frankly, I was not expecting it to work like this, but when I checked the trap a few hours later, it was a 'scratch mole No 1', which was an excellent result (particularly after 5+ failed attempts with the Scissor trap!). The second mole was in the lawn and had shallow runs and I thought the Talpex may not be suitable for this, as the top would be above the surface. So I found a recent run, placed it in there and packed soil inside as previously and used a flower pot on top (with the base holes blocked) to keep out the light. Again, after a few hours, it was 'scratch mole No 2'.All in all, a very impressive result.

Excellent trap
Having a large garden, we were getting overrun by moles. We decided to take action and purchased a Taplex trap. The trap is well made and has a very strong spring. Took a few days to catch our first mole, positioning of the device is very important and has taken a few locations to achieve a catch. The trap is humane and easy to set. It is important to watch the short video to achieve the desired results. Will be purchasing another trap and can highly recommend this device.

Improved review
The appliance video link did not work. However the following morning a telephone call improved my opinion as the supplier emailed me a direct link which did work. Unfortunately I am unable to set the trap as my hands will not spread the spring. I have forwarded the video to my son and he will set the trap at the weekend but this is likely to be a prolonged mole exercise.

I bought this and an out o`sight trap at the same time. This trap is relatively poorly made and has no safety catch. Also the `hair `trigger takes a lot of pressure to activate, so the mole a fair chance of not activating the trap compared to the out o`sight. Also this trap is more expensive.

The downward flange that the mole is supposed to touch is much too high and they can get past it easily. ITs not possible to set
For over a month of use this has not caught a single mole. The downward flange that the mole is supposed to touch is much too high and they can get past it easily. ITs not possible to set it any lower.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.......for Mr Mole
The product is very well made and i do not doubt it will be durable and give many years of service. That as they say is the easy bit.I have been at war with my moles for a few months now.Unconventional warfare does not work, I have learned that if you are going to catch a mole you have to think like a mole and act like a mole catcher which means investing in the equipment and learning how it works. The trap arrived quickly and was well boxed. With it came instructions by way of a link to a YouTube video of the seller giving easy and clear to follow instructions as to how to use the trap and set it in the ground. I watched the video a couple of times and found some others on the Talpex trap.Yesterday was the first day that I set the trap and much to my delight and the horror of my wife and kids I caught my first mole this morning when I checked on the trap. you cannot get better than that. Whether my success continues is hard to say.My only tip would be to look for fresh mole hills and set the trap in the runs leading to one of them. Recent activity is key to success I think.
