Why is this listed as being compatible with the Pontiac 400, but not the 455? I'm not aware of any differences with the distributor??

looked up on Rock Auto, for a 1976 Pontiac firechicken. both the 400 and 455 for that year show the same delco part # D1906. If you are relying on Amazon's application chart you will be in a constant return line to get credit for your parts.

is the depthi ds10071 the exact replacement for the ACdelco D1906.

The Delphi ignition module was the exact size of the module I was replacing in my chevy distributor.

Why will Amazon not ship this to California?

Likely because of aftermarket/environmental restrictions. Seems weird because this is original equipment for many late model vehicles, even though it’s not in an AC Delco box.
