This trap worked like a champion
Came already assembled. Bought for outdoor use as we had seen a rat as it was eating all the leaves off of one of our plants. This trap worked on the very first day! Caught a bird! Then reset it ... success again! Caught ANOTHER bird (or the same bird from two days prior that didn't remember that this was a trap). Apple was the bait for the birds (unintentionally). Then two days ago - switched the bait over to peanut butter and crackers. Caught the little rat overnight! Nasty little rat! Didn't like his new accommodations as he hissed until we let him out a few miles away into a canyon where hopefully a rattlesnake or eagle will find it :)

Being a female I had to ask my hubby for ...
Being a female I had to ask my hubby for assistance setting it up, once done I knew how to do it for future set-ups.IT WORKED! THE SQUIRRELS WERE RUINING MY BIRD FEEDERS SO I HAVE NO GUILTY FEELINGS. I used a small glob of peanut butter on the plate and some shelled nuts in a path to the opening. Bingo ! in and closed door! I was prepared b/c I read reviews...so I had a bucket of water ready to put the cage in with some bricks on top of it, wear heavy gloves! My bucket was not deep enough for the entire cage, so the squirrel's head was above water fighting for its life.Bricks helped to weigh it down. Sorry......so sorry.... but I had to make it die and drowning was not gonna work, SO, sorry, I looked in the garage for sprays and also in the bathroom, then I sprayed his face. 30 min. later he was deceased. Bagged him up and took him for a ride. Day 2 caught another one in the same manner. Sorry!!!!Had to be done.

Nice little trap for casual use
Within 2 hours of receiving my trap I had trapped a squirrel that kept coming into my garage when I left the door open more than 5 minutes, getting into my shelves and chewing on things. The plus of this trap is that it is very easy to set up and worked perfectly the first time. Two minuses: the directions that come with it are just awful. They are very confusing. It's easier to take a look at how to set it and figure it out yourself. It's quite simple, and I am definitely NOT mechanically-minded. The other thing is that the wires comprising the cage are not very thick. This wasn't a problem for me because I was monitoring the situation and the squirrel didn't stay in the trap long, but I can see how the capture of a nocturnal creature like a rat might fail if it's left for several hours unattended. I don't think it would take too much for rodent teeth to chew through. I am happy. It worked easily and well for exactly what I needed it to do. UPDATE: As well as this trap worked, after the 2nd use, I hosed it off in the grass. A couple of the pieces of the trap came off, including the loop on the top, and the trap became unusable. I contacted the seller, who was extremely responsive and settled the situation to my satisfaction. Thank you!

Amazed at how great this product works!
The media could not be loaded. Can’t really say much since I just received it in the mail,Only reason I’m posting a 4 star is because the cage wire feels very low quality, easily to break but I will be updating my review on how it turns out.UPDATE: excited to say I catched a rat on the first day I received this! I used peanut butter but after all i really recommend this product!2nd update: i just catched the 2nd rat in just two days of having it, what more can i ask forHopefully I can catch a squirrel with this as well

1 time use, squire destroyed trap
This might be good for chipmunks or mice, but not squires!!! I set this trap out and caught a squire by the next morning. The squire was still in the trap but completely destroyed the traps tripping mechanism to the point where the trap could no longer be used. I now have to figure out how to rebuild 2 pieces that comprise of the trap door trip mechanism.

Works great on mice but rats chew out of the thin wires
Catches them but has trouble keeping them. Works great on mice but rats chew out of the thin wires. Trap was ruined because of this.

Works!
These are very easy to bait, set up, release the captive, clean, and reuse for the next miscreant. I tried several other types with not-so-good results, including the plastic tubes and the black plastic box that closes when it tips. Between 3 of them, I caught one mouse total. I think those might be a little small for my rodents. No problems with the Trapro. It's caught wee little ones to some fairly big ones (probably rats?). My technique is to bait them with a variety of temptations, including loose nuts (some old cashews), a grape, a little watermelon rind with some meat still on it, large chunks of dog food covered in peanut butter. Mice will eat about anything that people will, but they seem to have their own individual favorites. The only problem I have had was in trying to get a mouse out and transfer it to a holding cell, so I could release several simultaneously. I swung the door open and was trying to corner the mouse into an empty condensed soup can (I had several that liked to hide in those) when it made a rush at the doorway and ran past my can. Luckily I was outside, and it just kept going. Hope it doesn't get back inside. Next time I will use one of those large plastic storage boxes and put the cage inside when making the transfer, so I can make sure it is several miles from my house when I give it its freedom .

It works, once.
Used this to trap a few pesky squirrels. The first squirrel I caught within 20 minutes (PB and sunflower seeds) so the trap works great, however he was able to chew threw the mechanism in that time so the trap was a one time use only.
