A friendly starters guide.
This book is a clearly written, all round guide to keeping a land snail as a pet. It has lots of colourful illustrations and gives you important information in a friendly way that would be easy and engaging for an older child as well as an adult. Its nice to see a book written in such clear, simple English and that doesn't rely on overly technical or tricky terms. My only issue is that it does miss out some key and important details that can be found in alternative books, such as how to humanely dispose of eggs. Its basically a friendly starters guide and for more technical information, pick up a supporting text that goes into more depth.

Great for first time snail keepers.
I bought this book to see if I could learn anything more about keeping Giant African Land Snails. This is a good book full of all the basics on how to look after Giant African Land Snails and the kind of set up you need and the basics on breeding etc.If you are looking for a book that goes into far more detail on different subspecies or breeding of these animals this book isn't for you. If you are a first time keeper or are just wanting more information for a class project etc then this book will be perfect for you. It's full of Glossy pictures and is a wonderful little book on these amazing and easy to look after pets.

Essential guide for first time owners
My daughter decided to acquire some baby African snails. The book gave us excellent information on how to keep them, including when to increase the size of the terranium (they have grown to a very large size), calcium and water needs, breeding (and how to avoid further baby snails...), food, etc. It is a great resource, but it is also a great book for children to learn about snails in general, and they have used it for their biology homework. An excellent, easy to read guide, with great photographs.
