Is this normal?** A: I washed it before using with a mild soap and it did not stain . I do not know if that is the reason , but nothing unpleasant happened . **Q: What is the spacing between the grates of the wire rack?** A: Half inch. **Q: Is this a good pan for roasting a whole chicken?** A: The pan is not deep enough for a whole chicken. You could roast on the cookie sheet pan if the chicken was cut into pieces. **Q: Where is this made?** A: CHINA of course... Stainless it isn't - it stains so I line the pan with Alum foil and when broiling I cover the rack with Alum foil with slots cut in to drain fats to the pan.
