Welseal 12 Inch UPVC Letterbox/ Letter Plate Panel for 20mm-40mm Thick Doors (White)

The product was fairly easy to install on my own, with the use of tape to hold the outer part in place, without tape it was quite difficult to line up the screw holes and impossible to reach around the door frame to hold it, so I reached through the letterbox from the inside to steady it as I tightened the screws. This product is nice and sturdy once tightly screwed in place. I think it looks far better in the white finish, compared to my previous ‘gold’ version. It came very well-packaged in shrink-wrap and cardboard. Some previous reviewers have mentioned the screws being too long/unsuitable (wood screws) and I would agree with this observation, but I just used the two screws that were holding my old letterbox together and they worked perfectly. I also did not have any problems (like some other reviewers mention) with the colour. The item I received was perfectly white, not cream as some reviewers pictures show. I am also very happy that the visible surround is white too. The hidden inner parts are black. I would definitely recommend this item and I am very happy with my purchase and the price paid.

Good for the price considering I was looking at basically the same product in Wickes that was twice the price. Took me 5 mins to fit and fitted the door fine. The screws that came with it were a little too long for the thickness of my door so I dug some screws out of a box in the garage that were just a tad smaller in length. Overall, it is what it is. Not sure how long the flaps will last but for just under a tenner I'm not going to complain. It's stopped the draft coming through that I had because one flap had fell off.

The letterbox came shrunk wrapped with two screws inside. My door is 1" thick and I've had problems in the past getting one to fit without additional bother.My previous B&Q letterbox required me to take a hacksaw to trim back the inner sleeve creating quite a mess.This letterbox didn't require any trimming, it fitted my 1" thick door perfectly.The screws screw into a plastic column which I suspect may make this a 'get it right first time' set up.The only difficulty I had was getting the screws tight enough. I would have been happier with another turn on the right hand screw but it is sufficient as it stands now.What I especially like is the ease that my postman seems able to put letters through and the general silence of its operation.I did adjustments for a previous letterbox unfortunately I removed a small 1mm x 2mm gap too much on one side. The outer edge of this letterbox seems slightly larger so hids my old blunder rather nicely.Generally for a tenner I'm very happy. I live close to the sea which may explain why the paint flaked off my old letterbox. Time will tell how this one fares but I'm hopeful and would definitely buy another one as it's only a tenner and easy to fit.

When I Received this I was a little confused, as I expected it to have a fitting gasket to the outer part, (some reviews mention that it does come with one). I emailed Home Secure, the seller, and they said it didn't, so I'm still not sure whether I should have got one or not. It certainly needs one, in my opinion, to be properly watertight. Anyway, I put a bead of clear silicone around where I think the gasket should have been, just to be sure. It's easy to fit, and if anyone's not sure about how to do it, go on utube and search "fitting a upvc door letterbox". Over-all, not bad, considering the modest cost.

This is a really great quality product. Fitted to my white Composite door and looks great. It blends in so well you don't notice I've got it fitted. I had to trim the draft prevention brushes a little with scissors as there was a little too much resistance to push thin letters through when the brushes overlapped. Would have been 5 stars except there were no instructions with it so it took a little while to work out which way round it should go and no bolts supplied. Was OK for me as I have a garage full of bolts but think some should have been supplied.

I was lucky as this was the exact type for my door - to get rid of the old gold one which I think look old even when new.This is a 2 person job otherwise you will be doing contortions trying to get the screws in.If it fits just like mine did it`s a 5 minute job.Looks good and blends right into the upvc door.There are internal brushes and a gasket to seal for draughts.This version had just TWO screws, although it seems there must be an option for four as the blanks weren`t pressed out but were there. (I was expecting 4 but luckily 2 was like my old one so no drilling needed)The spring loaded flaps are not too strong and the seal on the outer flap means it won`t clatter shut due to the postman.

I would have given it a 5* but the surround was black and not white as seen in description.

I am not that impressed with the quality of this product. The screws supplied with it are too big and I had to go and buy smaller ones to fit , they were too long and would not clamp both parts to the door. When I got other screws and it fitted to the door , the inside flap did not shut properly against the casing therefore not sealing properly , it’s does it’s job , but wouldn’t buy this one again
