this textbook is so dry and boring
I had to order this book as an architecture coursebook. It is so extremely boring and dry that I can hardly read more than 3-4 pages in one go, although one chapter is usually only 5-10 pages. (would be 1 star)For the money it is absolutely worth it though, that's why it has 2 stars. The material covered is concise and to the point, but all of it is crammed into this tiny book, with only black-and-white, small pictures. For the money I paid for it I cannot complain, but I like my other books with bigger pictures and waffly text more, which I have purchased for the same amount of money second hand online.

Rediscover modern architecture
The book is much more than a chronology of architecture. What makes it special is its tissue as a number of overlapping essays setting modern architecture in its historical, political and ideological context from a critical distance. The packaging in relative short chapters helps the reader to follow a complex and lively narrative.
