Carolina Reaper Chilli Powder in Skull Jar - Makes a Great Gift for Anyone who Likes Insane Spice!

I bought this for my FIL who is a great fan of spice.He mentioned to me that he used a tiny bit in cooking and said he has never experienced something so hot. The jar it comes in is impressive and very fitting in my opinion.You get a lot considering most people will use a tiny amount once and never use it again. It does look good with the rest of the spices though!

I enjoy strong tastes and hot food, but not stupid burning for the sake of it where you cant see or speak for the fire in your mouth, and to be honest I purchased this for a little bit of a joke, but actually, I’ve found it’s a delight if you use it sensibly.So reasons for the 4 stars Positives :-The bottle and box are really cool, are as advertised and make good little gifts (I have purchased 4 so far).Adding a tiny amount to any food either during cooking or afterwards (preferably during as the flavor is better) does cause a strange effect (at least to me) in that either the normal flavor of the food will not be effected at all but you will suddenly acquire a wonderful hot (but not overpowering) burning sensation as you eat.Or you will get an enhanced flavor with a combination of slight smokiness and again the wonderful hot burning sensation.The more you add the more this is intensified but be warned, just as they say on the advert, a few flakes too much and euwwww. Not mind-blowingly hot wow euww, just euwwww yucky nasty flavour throw it away and order takeout euwwww.OK I know everyone’s taste is different but one last positive for me, the right amount can be judged by the screw top on the bottle. For a pleasantly hot enhanced flavor for a meal for one, a light dusting just covering the bottom of the cap added to any sauce or stew gives it a nice kick, so the bottle is lasting and lasting Negatives :-I am not convinced regarding the 1.6m – 2.2m SHU claim, this seems totally unrealistic. I’ve eaten a small heap of the raw flakes and while they are certainly hot enough to burn, make me cough, my eyes water and my head sweat. Ive had Piri Piri mix on my chips that can do the same.So no, not my 4 batches, nowhere near 1.6m SHU, so 1 star deducted for the 12/10 claim.This being said – I would purchase this product again as I really like what it does to my food.Finally I don’t deduct anything for the yucky flavor if I over spiced, WickedbyNature put this in black and white so don’t be a noob and try to impress, this stuff doesn’t play well with food over a certain concentration.One final warning which I cant overemphasis, DO NOT SNIFF THE BOTTLE when you first open it.Those of you with of normal intelligence and even a passing experience of chilli power will know not to do this, but I made the mistake of giving one of these to a friend who has limited experience in the kitchen.I’ve got to say when I finally stopped laughing and wiped away my tears, the sight of him on the floor made me realize that this would make one awesome (and probably completely legal) self defense weapon. One deep inhalation incapacitated a grown idiot for over an hour !

Perfect gift for a chilli lover, serious heat and a cool pot. Don't overdo the amount you use, it's not in a skull for no reason.

I am enjoying adding this to my food as it's providing a nice extra little 'burn' to the taste of the food but even having used a decently-sized amount in one dish, I haven't experienced the 'heart-attack-inducing' burn reported by some users.If you like your food spicy, this is a very good option for mixing with sauces and wet food to heat the flavour a little and I'd recommend it to anybody.

I took one tiny tiny flake and chewed it. About 5 seconds in I could feel the heat starting, 1 minute in and my tongue tip was burning and I knew I had eaten chilli. It feels about the same as the very hot fresh green chillis I usually buy but smaller quantity of this one needed get same heat. Added to stews or soups it will be very nice.

I bought this as a small present for my boyfriend who loves hot food, the jar is nice, you can tell it is a skull and it looks quite cool. The spice inside is hot and is great for cooking with.

Ok, I like the jar a lot but this ain’t Carolina reaper. Definitely NOT Carolina reaper. The heat is almost one tenth of what it should be, I ended up using the jar in just a couple of days. Real shame... I’m keeping the jar and I’m never gonna buy this again.
