## Description

Britpop legends Blur are to reunite this summer, marking their 20th anniversary by playing their first shows with Graham Coxon since 2000. The first eagerly-awaited Hyde Park date sold out within minutes and, due to the massive demand, more dates and festival appearances have steadily been added. To celebrate the reunion, Midlife: A Beginners Guide To Blur is released--a unique collection of the best songs from the band’s career to date. Standing separate from Blur’s previous Best Of , Midlife represents a comprehensive collection of their biggest hits and favourite album tracks. The tracklist offers a deeper look into the group’s entire musical output, across 2 CDs. Midlife includes album tracks Sing ( Leisure ), Strange News From Another Star ( Blur ), Badhead and This Is A Low ( Parklife ), which sit alongside hit singles Girls & Boys ( Parklife ), Parklife ( Parklife ), The Universal ( The Great Escape ), and Beetlebum ( Blur ). The collection will also include Popscene--originally released in 1992 as a non-album single and unavailable since.

Review: For Popscene Alone - That there have been so many conflicting choices of songs that people are upset at missing from the track listing gives an indication of how strong the back catalogue of Blur is. Personally I'm glad MOR, Country House and On Your Own are ommitted in favour of Trimm Trabb, Battery In Your Leg and Bugman. In particular, one of the singles compilation had (and indeed DIY compilation - home taping is killing music though) is how to follow Song 2. Live Popscene has always been effective, seguing seamlessly through in Punk thrash style (see the Live at Peel Acres as a prime example) but here the follow on of Bugman works supremely well. Noisier, messier and all together weirder (the Space is the Place outro just nudges I got my head shaved by a jumbo jet for non-sequitor lyrical approaches) it is a brilliant choice. Glad also to see Death of a Party on there and of course Popscene at last released in a fully formatted way - it is brilliant and one of those moments that could have been from any point in their career being so related to Song 2, Crazy Beat etc. For that alone its 5 stars.
Review: Great collection - Nice track collection. Good price too.
