Six out of five
I love this screen! I've been travelling a lot with my job recently and trying to work with multiple applications and documents open on a small laptop screen has been really difficult and headache-inducing. Now my life is far easier. I can't recommend it highly enough, I'd give it six stars out of five if I could.Practicalities: I have a Lenovo Thinkpad running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with 4GB RAM. Setting the screen up was very easy. It comes with a setup CD and I don't have a disc drive in the laptop, but I was able to download all the drivers and setup utility from the Asus website. Setup more or less runs itself with minimal input required and took about 5 minutes. Once setup is done it's just plug and play, the laptop recognises it as soon as you turn it on and extends the screen area automatically. (The only thing to note is that the screen expects a USB 3.0 connection whereas my laptop only has 2.0 ports, and this did bring up a warning at the initial stage of the setup, but the warning can be ignored, it works perfectly well regardless.)It's so slim and lightweight I barely notice it when carrying it around, and the included case/stand is quite sturdy and protective. It also holds the screen much more securely than I thought it would at first sight. You could knock it over but it would take some effort, an accidental glancing blow or tapping on it with your pen to point something out is no problem. The display is clear and bright and screen operation is absolutely seamless, no hint of lag when moving open windows across or working in the screen. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who needs to travel and work.

Works perfectly with a MacBook Pro 2015
I bought two of these to go on each side of my 15” MacBook Pro 2015. Despite most reviews on many forums suggesting how hard it is to get these to work on OS X, I went ahead and bought them anyway. Unsurprisingly, it took me 5 minutes to get both monitors to work. I connected both to a USB 3.0 hub connected to my MBP which has Mojave installed. The monitors didn’t switch on straight away, so I thought I’ll google “ASUS MB169B driver mac’ - doesn’t cost me anything! I clicked the link to the ASUS support page returned by Google, downloaded and installed the driver, rebooted and presto, both monitors worked instantly. I have Mojave installed on the MBP but the Catalina driver works just fine with Mojave. The screen quality is pretty darn good. Obviously if you expect nothing less than 100 trillion pixels per square mm and won’t entertain anything less than caviar and white truffles for lunch, you’ll be disappointed (and you are looking way below your price range). All I can say is, side by side with my 15” Retina MBP (which has two graphics cards), the monitors feel just like an extension of the MBP. I am using some demanding apps (DAWs, all sorts of VSTs, some elaborate trading software) on the monitors, and I literally get the same functionality that I get on my MBP screen.Nothing more to say really. Light, slim, high quality finish, USB-powered, no superfluous buttons/features/bits, no clutter. Perfect monitors if you ask me.

Great portable screen with only a couple on minor gripes.
I bought this screen to compliment my laptop. I am a contractor programmer and never know where I might end up working, and I've grown used to having an extra screen I can rely on.At this moment in time, this is the best portable screen I could find.I asked myself why I should buy a screen and not a tablet which I could get some extra utility out of and the answers were simple. You can't get a tablet with a 15" screen, and if you did, it would cost a bomb. Not to mention it would be really heavy. This is simply a laptop screen packaged in a lightweight body designed to do one thing and it does it well and for a decent price.Build:The build is plastic, the back is also plastic with a radial effect, it's not metallic that's for sure. The plastic itself feels weak, and you could bend/break it with enough force. I suspect this is why you get the free carrying case (which is a good addition) although I chose to opt for a separate stand (linked below). It would have been nicer to have better/stronger quality plastic.Weight:If you're wondering how this compares to something like an ipad pro, the difference is quite simple. This is about the same size as a 15" laptop screen, very light weight, bus has a large bezel around the edges (not really a problem).Colour reproduction:The colours are somewhat washed out, you wouldn't want to use it for Photoshop, save that for your main screen and push your extra pallettes etc to this screen. For everything else it's perfectly fine. It's also bright, but not quite as bright as my laptop screen.Screen resolution:The screen is satisfyingly hi resolution and I can't pick out any individual pixels. 1080p video played back well presented no problems. It works in the same way VNC does, so its not a true video feed (hence via USB and not HDMI) but it's not proving to be an issue at all.Graphics card capability:I have a Samsung laptop with an on board Intel HD Graphics 4000 card. It's made in 2012. I'm still able to power a 27" screen and the ASUS MB169B+ at the same time.Compatibility:- Windows: Should work- Mac: Should work- Ubuntu/Fedora:Download and install DisplayLink driver from [...]Follow the instructions to install, but be sure to right click on the .run file and change permission first otherwise it won't install.Negatives:The USB cable that comes with it is hardly worth having, it doesn't provide enough power to the screen and you might think your screen doesn't work. Do yourself a favour, order a new USB cable. Either a new USB3 "Male to Micro" will suffice or a USB Y cable which will utilise one USB 3 port for the data, and any other USB 2 or 3 port for the power. I've listed the cables below that I ordered. You will need a 9 foot cable if you want to place the screen to the left hand side of your laptop (assuming your ports are on the right side of your laptop).Verdict:It's designed to do one job, and it's doing it well so far. I don't do games, so I'm not worried about that level of responsiveness. This screen is perfect for anyone on the go, working from different locations. Would suit a programmer, designer or anyone who needs the extra real estate.4 stars because the plastic doesn't feel so great and the packaged USB cable is rubbish.USB A to Micro Cable: AmazonBasics USB Cable - 3.0 A-Male to Micro B (2.7 m / 9 Feet)USB Y Cable: Ugreen Micro USB 3.0 Data Cable,USB 3.0 A Male to Micro B Y Cable with USB 2.0 Charge for Samsung Galaxy S5,Note 3,Nokia Lumia 2520,USB 3.0 External Hard Drives etc 1mTablet Stand: Anker Aluminum Multi-Angle Universal Phone and Tablet Stand for iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Nexus and More (Silver)
