These are NOT the lights you are looking for.
These are NOT the lights you are looking for. They are "Alexa Enabled" in the absolute loosest/worst meaning of the phrase. I have over 30 Alexa devices in my household and by far these are the WORST thing I have ever bought because they claimed to be Alexa Enabled. The Details: These 'pair' to an Echo device in your home in order to work. It's awful. The echo then cannot be used as part of a music group (or most anything else) because that will disconnect the echo from the lights and they will go into blue death pairing mode. The lights cannot lose power because they will go into blue death pairing mode. Blue death pairing mode is when the lights first get power they flash blue to show they are in 'pairing mode' and will not do anything else until they are paired to an echo. If they have been previously paired you must get the echo to 'forget the device' and then re-pair back to the lights. If the echo is in a music group and you play music they will lose pairing mode. Even when successfully paired they don't function well. The echo accepts your command but the lights only do what you want about 30% of the time - WHAT? Yes, you find yourself yelling at the echo and angry that the device doesn't do what you asked. The promise of what these SHOULD be and do is why I think so many of these sell, but they DO NOT live up to that promise. I'm really trying to save you from the awful mess these are. Please don't get these, they don't even come close to being worth what they are priced at. I have Alexa enabled plugs and lights with multiple echos and everyone in the house loves using Alexa for it's ease and usability. We took these off the tree after a full day of trying to understand them and make them work correctly. If you have Alexa enabled devices in your home already you know how easy these devices are to setup and use - these lights are not.

Maybe Next Year, But Certainly Not for Christmas 2017
Looks like Amazon yanked these from sales. If you were hoping to get some, don't be disappointed that they are now Unavailable. As so many others have stated in their reviews they 100% do not work. Oh they will light up and possibly even connect to your Echo over Bluetooth. But good luck getting them to do anything other than the default Christmas Lightshow. Turn off? Nope. Change colors? Nope. Change theme? Nope. Syncronize to music? No way. I don't know if its bad programming in the Skill or if the hardware isn't responding to the commands but either way they just do not work. I'll wait a little while to see if a software update resolves the problems (the update the vendor is claiming they released to fix the problems did not help at all), but if not these are going back to Amazon.EDIT 12/11/17 - As of yesterday these things started responding to voice commands! I didn't do anything different and I see the Skill version has not changed. I'll update to 2 stars for now.EDIT 1/2/18 - Well after about 2 weeks of working, they stopped responding to commands again, and have never worked again. Back down to 1 star.Additional Update 1/2/18 - I see these things are now listed at $59.99! I got mine as part of a bundle with an Echo Dot for 29.99 for both! There is no way these things are worth 59.99, even if they worked flawlessly, which as you can see from all the negative reviews, they do not!

Not worth the money, not by a long shot.
These lights are a good step toward having a tech centric home with new capabilities. I like the numerous colors, but they are buggy and definitely not worth the money in my opinion. As others have noted, it is hard to get them back into the "steady effect, once you have it do another. On effects, they are just slight variations of blinking. Some are fast, some are slow, that's about it. They could have done waves, or patterns like in the light shows, but they didnt. The voice commands are horrible! It is very specific and any slight deviation will have alexa telling you a basic help file, which by the way, doesnt help because those don't work. That's right, alexa will tell you one way to do it, the commands posted on the skill you enable will tell you another way. And the kicker! The website, has a completely different set of commands for the same things. And that leads me to my final issue. The lights won't synch with music from alexa. I followed the I instructions. I tried each of the 6! Commands that I found referenced to do this. That's right, as above, there are multiple commands that seemingly would do this, but none seem to work. For example, "sync music to beat", "turn on, beat detection", "start flashing lights to music", all do not work on my strand. They all confirm and say ok, but they will not do anything. It says, it may start at next song if music is on, but it never does it for me.Is it possibly cool, yes. If it were to do all the features it says and remove the bugs, it would be great. But right now, it's just another way to get your money in my opinion.

Alexa was ignored.
So much potential wasted.. Wasted time and effort. I had this preordered and when I finally got it was excited on its claims. Apparently thats all it were, claims. I did everything as directed, but the lights did what they want. When they did actually listen to Alexa commands, it would change the theme/ color for like a few seconds before reverting to whatever it wanted to do. I spent time with Alexa Help desk, which had me go through pairing, repairing, deleting, signing in and out, etc. End result.. .lights did not work past a pairing. Today, looking at these lights and reading the reviews coming in, I am faced with same issues that are being witnessed abroad. So I am returning them. Would have been nice if the program had an app as well so I can determine if it was the lights with the issue, Alexa, or the learned skill thats used by Alexa.
