Not for Crock Pot Express, most likely for Instant Pot
I don't really ever leave reviews, and even when something is bad, I just ignore it and move on. But, was really looking forward to this, and immediately was disappointed. The main reason I got this recipe book, was because there is a big difference between the Crock Pot Express, and the other popular electric pressure cooker, Instant Pot. One of the main differences is no Manual button, so you can't use a non-preset option. While looking at a bunch of recipes online, most had a manual section, which was sad, since the Crock Pot Express did not have that feature.I then see this book, whose title is, "500 Crock Pot Express Recipes" which would make you think, they are specific to the Crock Pot Express. Sadly, that is not the case. There are many mentions of using the Manual cook setting, referencing buttons that are for the Instant Pot and not on the Crock Pot Express. Honestly I think this Author probably just did a search/replace for Instant Pot and Crock Pot Express, and magic, new Recipe book.Overall, 1 star because of misleading content about what the book contained, not necessarily that the content is bad, it just isn't applicable to the Crock Pot Express.Hopefully this help someone else who may be looking for a recipe book, that is specific to their Crock Pot Express.

This is NOT for the crock pot express
This book was clearly created for the instant pot. I would not recommend this if you have a crock pot express as the information is not correct. This book frequently uses the “manual” function but the manual function does not exist on the crock pot express. The whole reason I bought this was for a work around in recipes to the manual function. I would not recommend this if you have a crock pot express- deceptive marketing.

Not a first class cookbook for the Crock Pot Express
I thought that this just might be a great reference book for my Crock Pot Express, but I am sad to say I am returning this book. The recipes are very poorly written. Words like, "saute for a few minutes" tells me nothing; giving the length of time for the prep and cooking does not include "soak overnight"; "Take the roast out, add the rest of the ingredients, now put the roast back in"; "Throw the rest of the ingredients into the Crock Pot" . . This just doesn't follow the course of a well written cook book. Another thing, the listing of the ingredients does not match up with the way the meals are prepared. I spent time reviewing some of the recipes and had trouble reorganizing the listing in my mind and where they related to the actual action of the cooking. Sorry, but I shall look elsewhere. I believe this was a rush job in time for the holiday sales. Also, Does the Crock Pot Company approve of this publication? I wonder??

Don’t buy this book — recipes not written correctly
I bought this book specifically for my Crock Pot Express because although I have experience using a stovetop pressure cooker, an electric countertop model was new to me. Every recipe I have tried to make has not had enough liquid or does not instruct the user to add liquid. The two examples I have attached are recipes I made yesterday. The main rule of pressure cooking is to use at least one cup of thin liquid in the recipes. While the rump roast recipe does state to add 1-1/4 cup water, it goes into the marinade and the recipe never states to add any liquid to the pot. To be safe I used the remaining Marinade as my liquid. It worked well. I also made the pasta recipe. The recipe as written did not work. I kept getting E6 errors. I added an additional 1-1/4 cup of water to the recipe and only used 1 lb of pasta and almost 2 pounds of tomato purée. Even then it was on the dry side and there is no “sauce” per se. I don’t know if the author has never used a pressure cooker and felt most stovetop or oven recipes are easily modified, but that isn’t how it’s done. Photos would also have been helpful. So would an index. Or an editor who had experience with pressure cookers. Or even using the settings that the CPE has. I’m ready to use this book as a doorstop. Very disappointed.

A good start on a very thorough cookbook, but could use some more work to make it better
This book includes a variety of interesting recipes; however, it could have benefited from better proofreading/editing. For example, there are missing words here and there. The ingredient lists are not in the order they're used in the recipe (as is typically done with cookbooks). Also, at times the directions aren't clear. The author doesn't always explicitly indicate which mode should be used. Some recipes have things like "Cook for 11 minutes. Cook for 6 minutes." Umm, what? And why do many recipes mention Manual when the preface to the book indicates that this is simply the Beans setting? Things like this lead to unnecessary confusion and could be easily fixed to produce a better cookbook.

Awesome crock pot recipes
We love our crock pot but quickly exhausted the recipes in the little booklet that came with it. In our search for more variety, I picked up author Jamie Stewart's "Crock Pot Recipes" and this is a wonderful collection of over 700 recipes that are both varied and easy to make. There are recipes for breakfast, snacks and appetizers, main courses, and desserts. All are very well explained with step-by-step instructions and we have been loving coming home at the end of the day to delicious smells. The pdf included with images was helpful as well. Recommended.

What do I do now and where to find ingredients.?
Carelessly written book. Many recipes lack complete instructions such as "do you have to secure the lid" and if the "pressure relief is fast or natural". Statement "relieve pressure per manufacturers instructions" also does not cut it. The section on making snacks is not worth having. After reviewing recipes, I must make some additions.Revised on 3-11-2018Found several recipes that neglect to tell you when to add ingredients. Split pea and hamburger recipe neglects to tell about adding peas. Also it does not sound right to soak split peas. Many, many recipes require ingredients that are hard to find like duck grease and duck fillets.I left 2 stars because the layout of book is nice.

meh
while this book does in fact have recipes, they are written in the bare minimum, giving no description of what it is other than the title. further, there is no index and it is in no order other than the 5 categories (breakfast, lunch, dinner, fast snacks, desserts) but those can't be trusted as things like sloppy joe sandwiches are in the breakfast section and 7 hour recipes are in the fast snack section. if you saw something in there you want to make but didn't mark the page you will have to search for it. to me, it seems like the whole thing was thrown together quickly. i wouldn't recommend this. i like having cookbooks vs searching online but with this one i might as well use the internet.

Sammelsurium
Wenig alltagstauglich!

I like that there are many whole foods too
The recipes in this book sound delicious and the author kindly offers a bonus with the book too. Because of the generous number of recipes provided he also offers a PDF download of the recipe photos. I like that there are many whole foods too.
