Compensating for inaccurately drilled holes
This item is really cute when finished. I purchased this one (which is more expensive than some - prices seem to range from about $20 to $60 for something that appears to be the identical item (except for branding). My item came with very complete instructions, decent brass screws (or perhaps brass coated), and all parts were labeled. The first step is to assemble the right side or the "organizer," (the part that houses the 2 little drawers). There are two, squarish uprights (one has a hand hold), with a notch in the back about 1" from the top edge.. IN that notch, there is one drilled hole (in each upright). Both of these holes were were off center by at least 1/16", which was just enough to keep the little cross slat from fitting. My husband drilled a second hole - but it quickly became apparent that moving the hole throws off others, since the cross bar must connect to the upright (when assembled, it's the 2nd upright from the left, which slides). Looking at all other pieces, every other drilled hole was drilled accurately. So, it occurred to me that the best way to fix this was to use my Dremel to cut the notch a little bit deeper. The great thing about the Dremel is that there are so many little attachments that there were several I could have used. It took me just a couple of minutes to deepen the notch (it does not show, or look bad) by "trial and error" until the slat would fit the notch. The rest of the assembly was a breeze.I'm writing this because it's an easy fix, and a far better fix than re-drilling (which, at least for mine, would have messed everything up. I can see why some reviewers give up in disgust - if you do drill new holes, you end up doing that for everything.Good luck, this is a cute item. 4 stars because of the need to compensate.

Nice, but meh.
We bought this to use as a place to charge tablets and phones and it works nicely for that. The materials seem good quality. The dividers do not slide as easily as I would have expected for a piece of desktop furniture of this price and that is mostly because some of the edges are still pretty rough and probably causing a bit of friction. that said, that is probably a feature if you are actually putting books or anything heavier on the sliding rack. I wouldn't feel confident that the weight of anything that is not self supporting (like magazines, file folders, etc.) wouldn't push it open over time because the sliding rack itself is very light. All in all, it is nice and my hubby is happy with it. I wouldn't buy it again at this price. It is worth maybe 20-25 bucks at the most. Not 39.

Great product, TERRIBLE instruction.
While this is a well made and sturdy product, the instructions included were incredibly vague. The parts are labeled in the instructions but not in actuality. I would recommend this product if you can take your time during assembly to figure it out. Also, you will want a bit-driver for assembly as the pre-drilled screw holes are very small and using a regular screw driver was quickly very tiring.

Better than bookends!
I ordered this rack so I could use it to organize my cookbooks on top of a small cart. I used to use bookends, and if I took a cookbook out, sometimes the weight of the other cookbooks leaning on the bookend would cause an avalanche off the side of the cart! Not ideal... This rack looked promising, and I was very happy with how it turned out! First of all, the overall quality is excellent. I like that the pre-drilled holes are countersunk on one side so the head of the screw will be completely flush once you screw them in. You do have to look very carefully at the photos in the assembly instructions to make sure you've oriented the pieces correctly, but apart from that it was a snap to put together. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and I like that it can even overlap the edges of my cart a bit (because it's all one piece, that's not a problem). I also really like the "sections" that are created when you extend the one end out further. I highlight recommend this!

Cool Desk Organizer
This works great on the edge of my desk at work. I thought it might hold Binder Notebooks but I can see it's not really made for that and in no way was it suggested that it might hold these....my bad. "Regular" books, small binders, notepads, etc., are perfect for standing up and the way you can expand/retract the shelves is great as well. And of course who can't use two extra drawers to hide things away. Overall, it is a good product. The directions that come with it though don't make it very easy to put together but in the end it's worth the trouble.

Looks good
Liked once it was put together. It took a little time to work out the assembly. Instructions were worthless.

Instructions are poor but the item is nice.
This looks very nice once I got it assembled. The "instructions" are very, very poor. The single page shows schematics of the pieces, a schematic of the sections you must assemble after you have figured out which piece corresponds to the schematic and nothing else. Lots of experience with IKEA may help you here! I downgraded it to a 4 star because of the quality of the instructions. Otherwise, it works well and I would buy it again.

Super sturdy, looks beautifu
So this is a great shelf. We put it on top of my husband's dresser. It holds books mail and his wallet, keys, etc. I put it together myself BUT it took over an hour. There are no real directions, just pictures and it took awhile to figure out which piece went where. It's worth it though for the wonderful organization we now have instead of messy piles!!!
