With "Walhalla Wacht" the titans of Heidevolk revive the traditional history of their native province of Gelderland and their Germanic ancestry by providing lavish quantities of lore and legend cloaked with Folk Metal garb. Traditional instruments fuse skillfully with powerful guitars and thrashing drumming to provide the stage for the clear male vocals of the two frontmen. Whether tackling traditional ballads, crushing neckbreakers, drinking songs, or epic battle hymns, Heidevolk remains true to their Folk Metal roots, while delivering a uniquely authentic album sure to appeal to fans of Otyg or early Vintersorg. Their pagan convictions will undoubtedly contribute in raising the next Teutonic storm. Heidevolk cometh!

Heidevolk!!!
This is a great album, if you like folk metal, you will surely like this album and the band, one thing that makes this band awesome is that they sing in their native language, Dutch, which is something that i think is great and maybe important in a folk metal band, plus, the music they make with their instruments sounds real good, personally I'll suggest you this album and all the other albums from this band.

Mediocre album, niche market
This is not bad metal, but not great either. If you've adopted any kind of paganism, especially norse, as your religion you may find enjoyment in the background behind the songs. Some of the songs are memorable, such as Wodan Heerst, and have good or unique composition elements, others just feel too generic to bear any real mention. One thing that really works in this albums favor is the contrast between the beautiful harmonics of complete chords sung in Danish (any germanic language tends to have beautiful sung complete chords in my opinion) against the harsh yells and gutturals of the spoken parts. As long as you know what you're getting into you will probably enjoy the album, but it isn't for everyone and the appeal is probably pretty narrow.

great band
Very good. Some of the best rock seems to come from this general area of Europe and this band is no exception.
