A: The K&N KN-141 Oil Filter would be the recommended filter for the 2004 Yamaha YZ450F 450.

**Q: Will this fit a 1982 yamaha xj550 maxim?**
A: I dont know, but those filters are pretty common, meaning generally they're all close to the same size.

A filter's a filter, if it's made for your bike. I haven't noticed any difference in performance from using this over a Yamaha filter (MT-125) and I didn't expect to.This is cheaper than I could find the 'genuine' Yammie filters, so I'm quite happy with it.
