SoftBums recommends prepping your diapers by pre-washing them in hot with cloth diaper safe detergent before using. Bamboo fibers may need to be pre-washed 10 times before you stop seeing leaks. Not very fond of their original inserts, we use them with regular flat diapers, but inserts work too. It's a hassle to clean the inserts because they have all these cleaning recommendations and drying instructions (can't be put in a dryer) - doesn't work when you have a non-stop pooping and peeing machine and need clean and dry diapers! Inserts are also pricey.
