The Magnolia Story

I loved this book! You may know Chip and Joanna Gains from episodes of the fixer-upper (which I am addicted to!). They are a great, loveable couple who clearly work hard and possess a lot of talent between them, which complements each other so well.This confirms that the couple we see on screen is the same as reality. This is a straightforward book to read. You feel like you want to be friends with them and be involved with their lives and family.Reading through this feels like curling up with a snuggling, cosy blanket and a good hot chocolate. It’s well written in a conversational tone, making it like being told a story by friends. This is sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but consistently remarkable, genuine and inspiring.

I have been watching Fixer Upper on TV and have become quite addicted. I absolutely Iove the chemistry between them, they are so genuine. The book was a pleasure to read and reaffirmed what a lovely couple and great team they are. I would highly recommend this sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes unbelievable story of their lives so far. Thank you Chip and Joanna for giving us a glimpse into your amazing life.

This book expands on the people you see in Fixer Uppers. It confirms that what you get on tv is a genuine glimpse of them as people and not a front. They come over as caring and principled and make you feel you'd be likely to enjoy spending time in their company. Some debate elsewhere as to their views on wider issues, but not for me to comment on or judge here.

Great book which tells the story of Jo and Chip, Magnolia and Fixer Upper in their own words.. The 'chat' that you see between them on TV is exactly the same in the book, with a running conversation going to and fro between them. Mark Dagostino has done a great job in bringing their words to life and has produced a book that is interesting and engaing and yet easy to read.My only (small) criticism is that they presume that everyone has encountered God the way that they have. I haven't and was keen to find out more about this. Maybe that's a cue for a second book..............

This is the story of two remarkable people who, together, created an amazing business which has brought prosperity to other companies, improved the houses and increased the property equity of many Waco home owners, provides employment for many and much, much more. Their steadfast, unrelenting love and support for each other and their faith seems to be the catalyst for thriving in situations which would have me running for cover! I "met" them via ITVbe and it has been lovely reading how they got to where they are now. Beautiful family but, oh, it takes a strong woman to keep up with Chip Carter Gaines. I am stunned by Joanna!

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Chip and Jo’s tv show. It has the same feeling. I found it inspiring, but also calming - like the show. I know I will return to read this again one day! And maybe a second book detailing the next chapter in their lives ... ?

I found Joanna and Chip's account of how they got to where they are today, inspirational. They were faced with hardships along their journey but they followed their gut & hearts, which lead them down a path they never expected to be on. Beautiful story.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about Chip & Joanna'a story from their first meeting through to their very successful career, and I can say without a doubt that they are two of the most endearing people I have read about in a very long time. It's very refreshing to read without anything having to bleeped out, well done Chip & Joanna

Funny and entreprenurial book, I liked the story and how the couple went to get business and personal success. I watched the show and that make me eager to read the book.

Finally, I caved and I ended up enjoying The Magnolia Story more than I thought I would!Chip and Joanna Gaines are a husband and wife team who specialize in fixing up old houses and making them beautiful again through Chip's construction knowledge and Joanna's design tastes. They are based in Waco, Texas and have their own show called Fixer Upper, which airs on HGTV."Go and find what it is that inspires you, go and find what it is that you love, and go do that until it hurts."The Magnolia Story tells the story of how they got started, their lives from even before they met, and how the two of them grow closer the more time they spend together. Chip and Joanna Gaines are the authors and most of the story is told from Joanna's point of view but Chip also adds quite a bit to the book (you'll be able to tell who wrote what based on the font). I don't want to spoil the story for anyone because I, personally, loved starting this without knowing much about it but I would like to say this. Chip and Joanna Gaines are two down-to-earth people who never imagined that doing what they loved would get them this far. They love and believe in each other and Joanna talks about her faith. There are several instances where Joanna references God and talks about her faith, which are sprinkled throughout the story.I loved reading this book and, while it talks about their lives, it also contains important messages about doing what you love and never giving up so it's inspirational in that aspect as well. Chip and Joanna have a good sense of humor and it was fun to see that shown through the writing. Reading this book makes me want to take a trip to Texas and start watching their show! I purchased the Kindle version which contains an extra chapter of questions and answers as well as lots of pictures that I loved to see. I have a Kindle Paperwhite and was able to view the pictures just fine. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in it. It is truly inspiring!

Nice little book. For some reason I thought it would be coffee table size. Looking forward to reading it. Novel size.

Joannaは作家さんではないので会話英語のような書き方だったので、英語を勉強されている方にもオススメかと思います。最近、次のシーズンでテレビ番組はフィナーレと発表がありましたが、こんな大注目の二人がどのような経緯でいまにあるのかを、時にはチップのコメントが入りコミカルに語られていたり、今まで全く知らなかった事が書かれていたり、自伝だけでなく人生のアドバイスになるような言葉がいくつも含まれていました。何度も読み返したくなる本です！

Me gusta este libro porque puedes ver la evolución como pareja a nivel personal y profesional se va forjando a lo largo de la historia. Esta pareja luchó por lo que realmente querían hacer aunque no tenían experiencia en ello y ahora tienen su propio programa de TV. Me encanta esta pareja porque es muy divertida, con sentido del humor y muy original. Este es un libro que vale la pena leer.
