Valuable for emergencies
When my desktop graphics computer failed I found myself unable to drive my 24 inch screen from my laptop. Video or audio editing on a laptop screen is not an enjoyable experience. Fortunately I was able to dupe the failing system drive and restore a working system without needing a complete rebuild using an Integral HDD Copy Station also bought from Amazon, but bought this docking station for future emergencies.Plugable Technologies sent me an e-mail which gave valuable help including a link to a web page providing all the information most people would need for the installation. My test installation worked excellently, leaving me with the desktop screen operating perfectly from my laptop. It really is very simple to install and just works - what more could you ask?

Great as a "universal" laptop docking station for office work
Bought this to easily connect a work laptop or my own laptop to my own home network. Was very easy to install - just follow the instructions and if you are running Windows 7 64bit (as I do on all the laptops), you should not need the enclosed CD. Connected up to a Dell full HD monitor using DVI, the screen is updated perfectly fast for normal office apps and software development work (ie my usage). I suspect life would get much more interesting trying to run games of any sort, but I was quite surprised how comfortable things felt using VPN networking to a remote network whilst doing lots of screen updates, all through a single USB2 connection. Great stuff!

I love it now, but it took a while to work!
Love this for clearing my desk of cables. I work on a laptop but have a 24" monitor plus keyboard, mouse, etc which all just cluttered the desk AND meant I have to plug them all in every time I got back to my desk with my laptop. Now I only have to plug in one USB (and mains power for the laptop) and everything works, including remembering the screen resolution and position for the monitor.I did have a few problems on first setting it up - it just wouldn't recognise the monitor was there, but this resolved itself without any fiddling after a restart or two. All other connections worked straight away (I'm on Win7)

Very good docking station
I was a bit worried when I bought this that I was going to need to do something special and lengthy to get my laptop and peripherals to work together. Not the case. I simply connected everything up and have been able to retire my desktop - which was getting v slow. I have my laptop, keyboard, mouse, screen (you don't need to buy any additional converters, there's one in the box), external hard drive and USB port extension all plugged in and all works very effectively.I particularly like that I have two screens that I can work with. Great little gadget.

Plugable USB 2 Docking Station
I was considering buying a new PC to replace my aging XP desk top.Having a reasonable lap top running Windows 7 I did question the need. This device has given me the best of both worlds leaving the flexibility of a laptop and the oportunity to use this as a desk top.I have been able to connect my printer and scanner and all was reasonably easy to set up.Did wonder whether to go for a similar project with USB3 connections but as none of my devices had this I stuck with the USB2 docking station.Overall very pleased and would recommend

Great!
This was delivered quickly and installing it was a breeze. Just connect it to the laptop without peripherals and (in my case) Windows 8 does the installation in a minute or two. I'm now working with two screens and I love it.Great product for a good price and quick delivery! What more could you ask?

Ideal for any laptop
I bought this as my laptop doesn't have a bespoke docking station. It works a treat. It gives me access to the network a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse. You don't even have to install anything as Win 7 discovers it and does it all for you.

I am using it realy a lot in my place. It is very usefull and practicle gadget. I am quite happy that I could connect sound, monitor, keyboard and mouse to my laptop only with connecting the Usb cable.
