Retractable Small Tape Measure Metro Zoo 2 - Purple Hippo

I have been forced to replace my entire sewing/crafting kit after it went "missing" following some unexpected visitors. I have been crafting (crocheting, embroidery, cross stitch, card making, etc) since I was about 8 years old so it was a large collection of tools; and a tape measure is a vital necessity.I knew as soon as I saw the cow tape measure (the very first one) I knew it was the start of a new collection and there are, at present 2 sets of 4 animals (8 in total) to collect."Hippy the Hippo" is 5.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm by 1.3 cm deep.To use the tape you need to yank on the hippo's right ear (as he faces you).Inches are on one side and centimetres on the other.The tape is full retractable; you simply press the small button in the centre on the back, and watch your fingers as the snap back is very powerful.Sometimes it is nice to have things in your sewing kit that aren't just useful, but can make you smile too.

This is ok for a child maybe, it is more a novelty that a practical tape. I bought it to replace a Hiya Hiya one because it was cheaper, but it isn't as long - not long enough for my crafting needs, and the edges fray very quickly especially if you let a child get their hands on it!To use the tape you pull out one of the ears, the tape does not stay locked properly like the Hiya Hiya one did.I've now bought another Hiya Hiya one so this was a false economy.

Cute as a button, and functional.Take a star off because it is a wee bit difficult to measure precisely because of the design, but it's perfectly good for when I need to measure my crochet.Bought a second for my son, and he loves goes around measuring things :-)

Granddaughter loves it, only downfall not very long

My daughter loved getting this in her stocking, she has had lots of fun measuring things since.When you press button tape does go back in very quick, have to be careful

Great novelty item, very small (for kids really) and cute. I’d not realised the price was for 2, I thought it was good value for 1.

Fab little tape measure. Bought as stocking filler for my granddaughter! (On her Christmas list and she’s only 5) looks great and I’m sure there will be hours of fun measuring anything and everything.
