Are you an educator of electrical theory and practice? Then recommend this book to your learners.
Are you an educator of electrical theory and practice? Then recommend this book to your learners. It will be the best £20 they ever spend in their professional career! I'm a big fan of the series of electrical books of Brian Scaddan, but this book (for a student of electrical engineering) beats all of Mr Scaddans books hands down! From the structure of the legal framework that dictates and shapes the absolutes of electrical engineering practice, to the minute details of wiring up a two way and intermediate light circuit. This book has it all!Fantastic pictures and diagrams, unbelievably clear and concise explanations. No student of electrical engineering could fail to learn from this book. Frankly, there are plenty of "experienced" electricians and electrical engineers that could learn a lot too! Such as the reason why double sockets have two terminals for the CPC! (Clue! it isn't to give you a choice of which one you want to connect to!).In short, whether you areA: A learner, new to the subject.B: A current/practicing electrical installation/maintenance professional.C: Trainer, tutor, teacher, even a working electrician who has apprentices. You AND your learners, students or apprentices will benefit from having a copy of this book!

Very valuable but beware of errors.
This book is a great resource for anyone looking to learn about electrical work. It covers all aspects really well and uses clear, simple language whether possible. I've found it invaluable alongside the On-Site Guide and the Electricians Guide. However, there are several errors in Chapter 7 and the worked problems. The voltage drop calculation on p151 both uses incorrect numbers and also doesn't relate to the initial question asked on p146. Also Fig 7.8 shows the correct value but it is shown in the wrong column.Similarly, the worked answer for Task Two shown on p284 uses a 6A BS EN 60898 when you should use a 3A and, randomly, the Ib is quoted as 39.13A at one point, instead of the intended 2.17A (an apparent copy & paste error from Task One).Be waste of these minor issues when working through the book.
