This thing is absolutely incredible. I lost my charger for an Acer Aspire 5 that came with a 65 watt charger. I purchased a replacement and the thing wouldn't fit even though it said it was compatible. So I decided to try this even though it's so tiny. I am blown away that it is literally charging my laptop as we speak with this tiny little device set at 20v. The laptop requires 19v to charge but 20v is not a huge difference or I would be concerned. Plus a lot of times you can have some voltage drop anyways. It is constantly charging at 45w which seems okay considering I can use the laptop and the percentage does not ever drop and continues to go up. I have used this to power a router, a laptop, a battery charger, a Sony PSP, my Pixel 6 phone and it just works. It's not the ideal charger for a phone because it won't detect that and I believe the other cables lets the phone acknowledge the fast charging. It's still charges at over 14w and actually close to a powerful cable I have which is surprising considering the phone does not display nor know of its capabilities. That to me is not a big deal because I don't use this to charge my phone and just did it as a test. I believe it just pulls the power from two cables or maybe I'm wrong but it seems to be a simple DC boost converter in a way. I am actually feeling the thing right now and it's not even that warm and definitely not hot even with it pulling 2.1A at 20v for the laptop. I just thought it would get hot because it's so small. I want to try and see if I can power even more powerful things, but my next powerful unit would be a laptop that requires way too much power at 230w so that would certainly destroy it or maybe it has a protection circuit because I did see it has error codes. I highly recommend you buy one of these for those emergency situations or just because you need something like this in your arsenal of tech goodies. I am going to buy another but it is listed in another place on Amazon for a couple dollars less so that's good. I am highly satisfied and I believe you will be too. You just got to get used to how it functions and the directions were well written enough where I could understand it very easily. This is one of the only cables I have seen like this ever. All the other ones are much larger or are straight usb cables with barrel adapters but those do not have any protection nor do they do any boost. It doesn't matter how this works as long as it works and it does. Just buy it and you won't regret it!

Exactly what I needed to replace the 45W power supply used for Acer Aspire3 w: 3mmx1mm plug connector. Small in size and covers multiple voltages. In my case using the 20V output from a 45W or 65W usb-c power brick. Positives: - Comes with 10 adapters which allows for multiple devices - Voltage is selectable which is good if you know what voltage your device needs - Compact size - Works on any laptop with the compatible plug What you should know: 1- Note that this device is merely signaling the upstream USB-C port to provide the selected voltage. It is not up/downscaling the voltage itself so you do need a usb-c power brick that can take multiple voltages 2- since the selection is manual and it defaults to 5V, it’s probably good for travel but not for it to always be connected since it could unintentionally reset to an incorrect voltage 3- works on microusb and usb-c devices but again you need to set the correct voltage. it’s too bad it can’t auto detect

I'd actually give it 4.5 rating, or 9/10. Would be better if the voltage selector was on the other end, closer to device for laptops, but that could be awk on a phone. Wish it autosensed voltage needed (I dont fully understand PD tech.) Many laptops are 19v set this to 20 and works great. REMEMBER YOUR CHARGING BLOCK IS KEY.....Mine goes up to 100W, your dinky old one will only charge dinky things. Came with a plethora of adapters. In many cases you may only need a PD block and the correct wire/adapters NOT this voltage selecting accessory......Cable could be longer. Like it. Huge problem solver and cheaper than buying hella proprietary chargers. I'm sure if you dont follow instructions you could brown out some devices. Another beef, each time unplugged from power you will have to reselect voltage desired.

This basically does what it’s supposed to, but the main problem with it is that you can’t get it to retain its power setting. This can be a problem in any case where the usb power supply might shut off and come back on. I got this primarily to test USB chargers and power banks with an electronic load tester. It’s not very good for this purpose because of the fact that power can get interrupted (by overcurrent protection in the supply during testing, for example) and having it reset to 5V every single time is extremely annoying. Switching voltages is also just not implemented too well. For example, you hold the button down and nothing happens until you release it. So initially you wonder just how long you need to hold it down. Errors are not very descriptive and only indicate that it failed to negotiate a specific voltage but not anything about why. I was also not able to get more than 70W through this cable at 20V, and it does seem a bit too thin to be a USB PD 5A (5 amp x 20V = 100W) cable. USB PD SPR (“Standard Power Range”) cables need to be able to handle 5A, rather than just over 3A like the 60-65W cables (3A x 20V = 60W). The fact that I can only get 70W max through this makes me think it’s supposed to be a 65W cable. But I can’t get an e-mark tag response from the cable so it isn’t even claiming to support anything like it should be if it’s USB-C compliant. I suppose there will eventually be competing products and this one will probably get improved, but for now this one is kind of half implemented and I’d recommend using a more reliable trigger module for anything important.

This interesting power cable fits a niche requirement. The connections are normal USB-C on one end, and the other end can be fitted with one of the included end tips which cover a wide range of equipment types. The really unusual feature is that it contains, within the cable, the circuitry required to trigger USB -PD ( Power Delivery) and even select a voltage. This logic is normally contained in the charging circuit within the device you’re connecting to power, and if the device doesn’t “speak” USB-PD, the transformer will only give it standard USB-C quantities of power. This cable handles the negotiation with the transformer and spits out power at the voltage you select. In my use case, I needed to supply 9v to a device with no charging logic. By connecting a suitable tip end, and dialing in 9v on this cable (actually selected using a cycling button push) I was able to get the required voltage, which is not an option from regular USB-C connections. The cable negotiated with the transformer by speaking USB-PD to it, and passed the proper voltage over to my device. This is admittedly a niche application, and I don’t know how often I will need this capability, but it’s nice to have a means of using this technology which is built-in to many power supplies and mobile charging batteries. The cable functioned as expected and delivered a valuable, if esoteric, capability to my electronics bench.

Had to return mine because the switch was on 5 or flipping through Error codes. No other instructions other than listing Error codes on back. No explanation or what to do with them. I clicked through our instructions, so pretty sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. Hated sending a broken thing this small and trivial back due to the carbon footprint. Maybe they reuse the tips, but I was surprised they asked for a return on a malfunctioning item like this. Would rather they ask for a pic of the malfunction and just refund. Seems a wasteful return. The drawback of ordering on Amazon I guess. Good luck if you get one and I hope it works better for others!

I really like this idea. It helps us on the way to the "USB-C Power Delivery" future where we hopefully only have one charger/connector for everything. It does indeed default to 5V (which is the safest default). On occasion I had minor issues getting it up to the voltage I needed it to be at and staying there (but it's unclear if that was the laptop receiving the power or this). Regardless it was not difficult to get it to work at the voltage needed. If you plug it into a PD adapter that isn't capable of higher voltages, it will show the error (that is absolutely not a fault of this adapter). I wouldn't say the display is immediately "intuitive" but it's easy to figure out (it's either the voltage it says it is or it flashes the letter associated (on the back label) of the voltage that you tried to switch to that failed. The day after I tested it a friend already had a need for a laptop power cable and I was only able to help him out because of this new acquisition. USB-PD auto-negotiates appropriate voltages and amps, but with a device like this (and being able to attach your chosen tip) it becomes your responsibility to make sure you're not attaching something to incorrect voltage (which could potentially damage your device and/or your source charger).

This thing is really cool, It powers most of all my 6/12/14v devices often proving 12v @2amp consistently on such electronics like a raspberry pi to a network switch. Of course there's limitations but I run most of this from a high output battery bank and it's worked well for what I needed l, exceeding my expectations.
