Double gatefold 180 gram LP re-issued with CD of the full album. Chocolate and Cheese was Ween 's fourth studio album, originally released by Elektra Records in 1994 reaching Number 10 in the Billboard Heatseekers chart. It was the first Ween album to eschew the four-track recordings of their first three albums and utilize a professional recording studio. However, most of the instruments were still played by Dean and Gene Ween, including their drum machine . Chocolate and Cheese, a brilliant fusion of pop and gonzo humor, is arguably Ween 's finest moment. The album proven for once and for all that along with their twisted sense of humor and wide musical vocabulary,Ween are also impressive songwriters. Over the course of Chocolate and Cheese, Ween explore virtually every permutation of pop, rock, soul, and funk.

Chocolate and Cheese Do Mix
Ween's unique mix of juvenile, weirdo humor and musical prowess is awe-inspiring, and they bring that in spades for `Chocolate and Cheese'. All the tracks are neatly produced this time, compared to their previous efforts, `GodWeenSatan', `The Pod', and `Pure Guava'. Still, this doesn't detract from the album's charm and no music genre escapes the Ween boy's grasp. They even manage to pervert Philly soul with "Freedom of `76". That track is hilarious, but it can stand on its own as a real, soulful masterpiece. That's the beauty of their music; no mater how postmodern they get, they never alienate the listener, i.e. the song keeps its heart despite being a mutant.Highly recommended for smart college students.

Great record!
Hello! Chocolate & Cheese is just one of the many amazing albums Ween has put out. It's as eclectic as their other albums. This is a good place to start when you're just getting into Ween. All tracks recommended. So to anyone thinking of purchasing the album, do it! because you will enjoy endlessly! Thank you.

An album so varied and bizarre you have to love it.
This is the first Ween album I bought, and it's still my favorite after buying four more. It doesn't fit into a catagory of musical styles - I mean you can't think "I feel like listening to something mellow/heavy/dancy, I'll play Chocolate & Cheese", because this album sways so randomly from one musical style to the next. Songs of completely different moods are juxtaposed together to create as jarring an effect as possible. They're all good, though - some fast, some bluesey, some grungey, some wonderfully downright odd, and some completely mental (only Ween could write a song called 'Spinal Meningitis Got Me Down'), but they're all, just, kinda, 'good'. The album finishes and leaves you thinking "What the hell was that all about! " It's very refreshing. The band seem to be enjoying just doing what they want to do, instead of trying so hard to be a success. Maybe that's why I like them so much. I recommend it highly. Buy it.

The Brownest Cd Ever
Chocolate and Cheese is one of those rare animals, a perfect album. It if packed to bursting with beautifully crafted songs that never age and make you smile over and over again, especially if your humour runs to children with spinal meningitis and ponies collapsing on driveways. This is Ween's strongest release by some way.

So refreshing and entirely new-sounding
Usually a chillout and soul/reggae buyer, I bought this on the strength of being played the marvellous guitar tune "A tear for Eddie"..... good enough, I thought, to buy the whole cd.To my delight I found the whole album to be an eclectic mixture of styles and very witty too..... pretty well mixed too.As Rolling Stone quoted- "Zappa is their ultimate Papa"Nice one!

Vinyl pressing quality review
Enjoyable Ween album, especially 'Freedom of 76'. I won't go on about the music, as I think some people will want to know about the quality of the vinyl pressing.Schnitzel vinyl release, pressed by Pallas in Germany as far as I can tell. The pressing quality is good, and the sound is good, although disc one of mine has lots of random clicks. Disc two is excellent quality. The clicks are annoying, but I can't complain about other forms of surface noise with this release.I don't believe in returning vinyl unless the record is truly faulty. This is the nature of vinyl. Sometimes the background noise is fine, sometimes it's annoying.

The original Brown Album
Such a cool collector item pressed on "Chocolate Brown" and "Yellow Cheese" vinyl. It sounds great too!!! If you've been causally dipping your toes in the Ween pool this may be their best album to listen to and take the full plunge. If you start with "GodWeenSatan" or "The Pod" you may freak out and get turned off, but they are truly one of the greatest and important bands of the 20th and 21st century!!! Hail Boognish!!! \m/
