Sounds like it was recorded in my bathroom
Interesting recording techniques and percussion make this album one of the best of 2008

Great weird album
This is a spectacular album for many reasons, The fact that almost all the songs meld into one another in a subtle, not slapping you in the face, kind of way. The drumming is just incendiary. i find that Meric doesn't have the greatest voice in the world, but he gets the job done quite well. Would highly recommend for fans of grizzly bear or andrew bird.

A Rare Jewel Waiting To Be Discovered
In a time when many in the music business are jaded and faded, this group will grab your attention in a big way. "Visiter" is absolutely one of the best albums (yeah, I'm an old dude) I have ever listened to.The music has a gentle groove that is almost ethereal. It invites you in and then gets your slippers and pipe for you while you kick back in reverie. Totally entrancing.I have not heard drums used so effectively ever before.

Not appealing
As a whole, this is just not aesthetically appealing music, in my opinion. If there is some esoteric genre it fits into that I've never heard of, like "acoustic-echo-repetitive-detune" or something, then I apologize. All I have to compare it to are bands that I much prefer, such as the folksier Avetts or the more harmonious Fleet Foxes. Some of the shorter tracks are okay, and I agree with others here that it's remarkable how much diversity is wrung out of just a few instruments and effects. However, too much of the album just plain annoys me. It's hard to get a grasp, based on the sample clips, of how long and harsh passages from some of the tracks actually are ("Joe's Waltz," I'm looking at you).Obviously there is a type of person who would really enjoy Visiter, but I'm not sure I have ever met that type.
