Just Add Magic: Volume 1

I liked this book, and I have the sequel (but have not read it yet)The characters look different than they do in the show (which I watched first), So it took a while to know which one was Kelly which one was Darbie and which one was Hannah. . .“Senora Perez” was called in “Mama P” in the show, but I do not know why they would have changed her name.I do not like the character Charlotte, and I definitely think she deserved having the blisters on her feetMrs. Silver’s also has a daughter in the book, however she is not mentioned in the show.I do not understand why they changed the name in show from “Keep ‘em quiet cobbler” to “Shut em’ up shortcake”, but they do the same thing.

Bought for my 7 year old who loves the series and has just started reading longer books, she finished it in 2 days. She said it is different from the series but still loved it.

While cleaning out the attic, Kelly Quinn discovers an old book. Normally, that might not catch her eye, but when she opens it, she discovers recipes. Kelly adores cooking and she can't wait to try out some new recipes.Now that she and her two BFFs are starting seventh grade, it could be time to start their very own cooking club. As she reads the recipes, some of the ingredients are unfamiliar to her. She wanders into a store to gather the ingredients. After purchasing the items, the store owner tells her to beware of the laws of return.Kelly doesn't think much of this warning at first. It isn't until she witnesses the results of their cooking experiments that she become suspicious. Did she make her brother stop talking? Did she hex her frenemy? Did she cause her cranky old neighbor to fall dangerously ill?Kelly isn't sure if it's the book working its magic or if these incidents are simply coincidences. Either way, the magic is ruining her life. She's forced into helping her frenemy. Her best friends aren't happy with her. Can she reverse all of the spells she's cast through her cooking?I enjoyed this tween read - a great novel about friendship, karma, and mistakes. I loved the magical elements combined with cooking. I enjoyed Kelly's pesky younger brother, the craziness that ensued due to the spells, the bits with Charlotte, and the friendship between the three girls.Reviewed by: Jennifer Rummel

I bought the book, Just add magic for my granddaughter, as I had watched the TV serial and got my granddaughter to watch them and we both fell in love with the series.However, the book , I have been told by my granddaughter, is nothing like the series but is very good in its own right. I have asked her to let me read it after her as I am sure I will also like this book.The book arrived the day after ordering and in excellent condition.

Excellent book that prompted an Amazon TV series. The number of interesting new words made this a popular read with our eight year old.

My 9 year old granddaughter loved this series on tv so it was an excellent book to encourage her to read. Fascinating plot for girls.

Es gab viele Gemeinsamkeiten mit der darauf aufgebauten Amazon-Serie, so dass man sich sofort zu Hause gefühlt hat. Es gab aber auch genug (teilweise extreme) Unterschiede, so dass trotzdem noch alles interessant, schön und spannend ist, selbst wenn man die Serie vorher gesehen hat. Mehr Wortwitz, mehr Schulrivalitäten und Jungs waren ein wichtiges Thema :-)

The book was great but to be honest I like the series more that is available on Amazon prime.THE series totally different and interesting from the book but overall I had great fun reading this.I will recommend you to buy it but you should also and you must watch the series

it was in one: fantastic! it was a bit slow but it was relaxing, enjoyable and super funny! I invited everyone to read it and go in a wonderful world of magic!
