You may notice a chemical build up on one of the electrodes, while the other remains clean. This is a necessary by-product of the current produced by the clock. It is impossible to produce an electrical current without a corresponding chemical reaction. If the LCD Display remains dim and does not respond well to fresh tap water, it is an indication that it is time to clean your electrodes by the following steps: 1. Empty the water tank and refill with fresh tap water. 2. Adding approx. 4 teaspoons of normal cooking vinegar. 3. Shake the water tank while being careful not to drop the clock or wet the outside of the LCD Display. 4. Removing the filler cap, allow the water-vinegar mixture to sit in the clock overnight. 5. Empty the tank and refill with tap water as in operationg instructions.
