## Overview

Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader offers an unvarnished, trade-by-trade account of 21 weeks in the market by veteran Peter Brandt. Packed with charts and candid analysis, it reveals the complexities and discipline required for successful trading, making it essential reading for serious traders seeking practical, battle-tested insights beyond theory.

## Description

Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader: Lessons from 21 Weeks of Real Trading Trading is generally far more difficult in practice than in theory. The reality is that no trade set up or individual trader or system can identify profitable trades in advance with complete certainty. In A Year of Trading, long-time trader Peter Brandt reveals the anxieties and uncertainties of trading in a diary of his 2009 trades. He explains his thought process as he searches for trading opportunities and executes them. Each trade includes charts, an analysis of the trade, and a play-by-play account of how the trade unfolds.

Review: Excellent- and sobering - If you're looking for a get-rich-quick book with a 100% reliable trading system, stop reading. But if you're looking for an honest account of the trials and tribulations of a 30-year veteran trader during 2 months of trading, with multiple charts and set-ups included, this book is what you want. The overall impression gleaned from this book is that trading is not easy, and that you need to have a well-defined technical approach and stick to it. Although the book says 'commodities' in the title, it's perfectly well suited to trading stocks, as the technical set-ups are absolutely the same. This is a very good read, imo, both for very experienced and less experienced traders. I wouldn't recommend it as a first book though. For the absolutely complete beginner I would recommend Stikky Stockcharts, and following that Weinstein's How to Profit ... book, both of which are very reasonably priced. FWIW, I'm in my third year of semi-active trading, am basically treading water from the point of view of profitability, and still learning.
Review: Clear and actionable - Peter writes in an informal style and hasn't hidden anything in this book. If you are contemplating trading, it is worth a read as it gives a trade by trade account of an experienced and profitable trader You can learn so much from this book

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and learns from books like these! This is REAL TRADING with real examples
*by M***H on 16 September 2014*

I hope every beginner doesnt fall for the expensive trading seminars , and learns from books like these ! This is REAL TRADING with real examples. He stresses why risk/leverage should be kept at minimum . Most seminars will make people feel like trading is easy and high returns are possible i.e 50pc-70pc a year , very few will achieve this consistently.
