Great Read
These books just keep delivering the goods! If you could take the science fiction out of the books and was left with just the governments, military, and civilians, would would discover a realistic battle scenario. Imagine during World War Two having a large force cut off with no support or resupply coming and superior enemy forces pushing into your area. You have to adapt, live off the land, find supplies, equipment, personnel when and where you can. You can’t give up. You found out the the enemy force driving towards you are looking to supplies those back home with a decisive strike that would cripple or bring down the country you swore to protect. Even if it means sacrificing yourself and your command, you must stop the enemy!!

Good story with a lot of plot building in this book.
I've enjoyed the first books here in the story continues with the main character and supporting cast trying to save future human existence. This book got a little bit bogged down trying to keep developing the world building in the plot however it didn't over explain and tried to move it along. The action seemed a little more slow-paced and it really only happened towards the end of the novel. It felt more as if the author sort of walked us through this is what happened instead of the feeling I was living the experience like the first two battles in the books he wrote previously. So I'm enjoying the series and will continue to do so and I look forward to book number four.

Great continuation of a great series
The authors continue a good storyline and the twists are interesting. The locusts are going to be in for a good fight.

Third book as good as the first!
Continues with the writing quality as books one and two. New characters are interesting and contribute to the overall plot. The plot is still interesting and engrossing.

Hang on to your shoes ...
Everything I have said about the Author's previous books applies to this book about the characters, dialog and their relationship to each other. An author, once said to be a successful writer; develope likable characters and then put them into the most horrible situations (well loosely translated). These authors are not bashful carrying that philosophy out.My only beef is that I believe that in a war being nice only gets your people killed. If you are resource limited and ambush is your only chance, asking a superior force to surrender is not a good plan.Fortunately that become a non-issue. Which is another thing I like about these Authors is that no matter how the characters game out a battle senario, the 1st contract with the enemy resolves into improvisation. - just like life. The battle scenes are extremely well done for both the space and ground action drama, with very good pace.I found this is a very good read, and I look forward to the next in the series - enjoy.

Good pacing but...
So the story is moving along at a decent enough clip. Few details are getting bogged down or excluded, and the character development sphere is expanding at a nice pace.

Still good
8/10 The action has ratcheted up several notches and things are developing quickly now. There are still too many long passages of philosophizing, introspection, and repetitive explanations but there's a lot more meat on the bone in this book than the first two.My suspicions regarding the aliens seem to be proving out although nothing is quite certain yet.I'm still a little torn whether or not I want to continue with the series or wait until it's finished but it's been a great ride so far and I've become invested in the characters and the story. I expect this is going to be quite a long saga as they are still dealing with the edges of the alien incursion and there's no telling what's been going on with the mess they left back home.Still it's a fun read and technically pretty well done although there are a few proofreading hiccups here and there.

Book 3
Book 3 had errors throughout and was a fun read. Again the characters and plot are developed well enough. The plot has started to be strung out and reads a bit slower than the others. The characters are developing well and adapting to new problems on the way with creative insights on the aliens. The team must find the warhead's and nettle the locust's in order to save the sector and find their payloads for the missiles. O dos enjoy the overall of the book, bit could of been a bit faster in the telling.

Less convinced by this book
The Romanoff disaster magnet is in full swing in this third outing. There are a lot of nice complexities built into this storyline, but there are some levels of stupid that I found unacceptable. Getting his gigantic asteroid ship out into battle crewed by jumble sale fan and video playing kids might be believable. Rebuilding 200 years old nuclear reactors after they have blown up, before lunch, with duck tape and cardboard may be believable . But going to rescue New Copenhagen when you are simply not ready - not enough laser clusters repaired, not enough missiles working (and without nuclear warheads!), not enough time to train the volunteers in flying the pinnaces with combat techniques, not enough time to integrate the new crew members, agree the treaty with Port Royale or rustle up a contingency plan........it all seemed more than daft. It didn't sit right with the way the characters were developing.

great series
Can't wait for the next book in this adventure. Strong characters. A logical plot, allowing for the usual caveat of faster than light travel

romping read
Light and fun. Enjoying the not so straight adventure. Waiting for the next instalment. Inconvenient story setbacks are just a little off.
