Excellent knife sharpener
My brother recommended this to me and it works great on all my knifes. First time you use it you need to get the correct angle on the knife but then its easy to redo them and keep them sharp. First time I have had really sharp knifes and it makes a guge difference. In fact it's so good I'm buying another for my daughter.

Such a good product I'm buying one for my son!
I decided to push the boat out and go for one of the more expensive sharpeners that also had pretty good reviews. Any of you out there who enjoys messing around in the kitchen but struggle to find a sharp knife amongst your collection, look no further. This electric sharpener oozes quality and is nice and compact to tuck away in my fairly cluttered kitchen. For first time sharpening of your Knives you have left and right angled grooves with a coarser rotating sharpening stone, and the same set up of grooves alongside with a finer stone to hone the blade even more.Simply flick the switch to turn it on and draw the blade towards you 3 or 4 times on each side of the coarser wheel. It is effortless and suprisingly quiet for what must be a pretty strong motor. When sharpening your knives for the first time you will probably need to spend a little more time to get your knife to the desired sharpness, but to resharpen every now and then you only need to run your knife across the finer grooves a couple of times

Good but not perfect
I bought this item on the strength of previous reviews, realising that I was nevertheless taking a bit of a chance as the item description was very unspecific as to operation and - particularly - the angle of grind. This was important to me as I wanted it for some Global knives I use, having been totally unable to achieve a decent level of sharpness either by sending them away for professional sharpening nor by using a Japanese water stone myself. They require a 15 degree sharpening angle, not the 20 degrees of most western knives.I found that the level of sharpness conferred on my Global knives is pretty good, but falls considerably short of the scalpel like sharpness of when they were new. There are two grind wheels, coarse and fine. The recommendation for Japanese knives is to use only the fine grind wheel, which I did. In fact I found the coarse wheel fairly useless on all my chefs knives, from cheap to mid-range western blades. The fine wheel sharpens the western knives as well as just about anything else ever has and got the Global knives sharper still, with care as to how you hold the knife in the guide. I do feel that another level of sharpening is needed to really get the finest edge on good quality Japanese blades and am considering a stropping strap and fine paste, as used for cutthroat razors, in order to achieve what I want. All in all, this is a good product giving a good, yet less than perfect level of sharpness. It represents decent value for money, on the basis that you usually get what you pay for.

Excellent product for the price
This knife sharpener is worth having as it is easy to use, with very clear instructions, and does the job of grinding and honing knife blades very well. I have had this knife sharpener for a couple of weeks now and not only are the knifes at home very sharp but also the knifes at my mother's and my mother-in-law's houses.I come from a catering background and was used to using a similar type of grinder, although more industrial and expensive, in the kitchens i worked in and i can say that the Knife Wizard does the job to the same standard.

I prevaricated - don't!
I had this on my wish list for months, trying all manner of manual options before taking the plunge and going for it. Frankly I wish I'd just bought the thing in the first instance as it is probably the third most useful electrical kitchen toy I now possess after a breadmaker and a steamer. It takes a few runs to sort out the initial conditioning of knife blades to the sharpener's grinding angle but once done the thing is a cinch to use, giving excellent results on everything from butter to steak knives.Highly recommended, reassuringly solid in construction and well-priced.

Best way to sharpen knives yet
If like me you struggle to keep your kitchen knives sharp then this is for you. Easy to use and makes the knives really sharp. You will need to make sure that other people using the knives know just how sharp they are otherwise you mave have a accident.Only issue is that when you use the grinders you do get a very fine film of the steel - this needs to be carefully cleared away and the machine cleaned out before you put it away. If you are someone who doesn't bother doing such things than in a very short time you will find the machine has this fine metal dust in it. No big deal - depends on your attitude to dust/dirt!

Sharper Knives Made Easy
An excellent, easy to use product with clear instructions. Had my 'no need to sharpen' knives for about 10 years but they were not cutting like they used to. This product has sharpened them perfectly. It took about 10 slides through the grinder but they are 'as good as new' - in fact hadn't realised how blunt the knives had got! I can now slice a cherry tomato in 2mm slices (why I want to do that I'm not sure!). Highly recommended and whilst I could have bought a new knife set this item is a longer term investment to save pounds back in the future.
