Good but does need a pretty smooth floor to work well
Longer term review: Nothing to add to below. Apart from the handset issue, this is a well made toy. Tyres and wheels can come adrift if given a workout on rougher surfaces like pavement, but superglue works a treat.First impressions review: Bigger than expected, but no bad thing; you do get quite a bit for your money here, physically. It's plasticky but doesn't feel too flimsy, and the wing mirrors are still intact a whole day later. The radio control is of the non-proportional variety, so there is no delicacy in operation, but the bus does not move very quickly so any collisions shouldn't be too catastrophic. The bus itself switches on and off with a switch underneath (curiously labelled A/B/C but only actually two-position) and the supplied handset only powers when the control levers are pushed so there is no power switch on it; a red LED lights up when the levers are moved. Only really marking down a star because it is very picky about running surfaces. Very dense carpet tiles may be OK, but this basically needs a smooth wooden or tiled floor with as few bumps, ridges, cracks etc as possible; we also made a road out of place-mats (as pictured) which was suitably challenging for steering given the rather large turning circle. I wouldn't give it much chance on bumpy tarmac as the product image suggests, though it just about works on a smooth pavement with the occasional helping nudge! Ultimately the vehicle's wheels are small and there's not much torque to them, so it needs every bit of help it can get, but given a clear smooth space to play it's still a pretty decent (not too) little toy. And the headlights are undeniably cool! N.B. Contrary to details (still uncorrected despite flagging), this toy obviously does use and require batteries, 6 x AA between the handset and bus.One little issue experienced: the switches behind the levers on the handset are pretty rudimentary, and we found the forwards one to be temperamental. I suspected a dry joint, but it just seemed to be a product of the primitive design of the switches, such that the lever didn't always exert quite enough pressure on the metal leaf to make electrical contact. But because the switches are simple and easily accessible, that meant it was easy enough to pad the offending one out with a bit of sticky tape and significantly increase reliability.

Most disappointed
Unfortunately had to return as it as the remote wasn’t connecting to the bus signal ,it would work for a minute then not at all,had bought it for my grandsons birthday so really disappointed that it didn’t work properly

Good fun
The plastic is a little flimsy and you can't change the frequency of the remote (i.e don't buy 2 – you can't race them!). But it is good fun, goes quite fast for a toy and the front lights are amazing – they make the bus much more exciting and interesting!

... wasn't expecting it to be one of my sons favourite presents along with his ps4 and fx racing
This was a last minute gift from "Santa" I wasn't expecting it to be one of my sons favourite presents along with his ps4 and fx racing, he's played with this loads. Has headlights and sound - fun to play in the dark. Our dog goes bonkers when my son plays with this, so funny. We have wooden floors in our house, not sure how well it works on a carpeted surface. Highly recommend this toy - its brilliant!,,

Remote control routemaster
My son loves his remote control double decker! The headlights work when the bus is going forward, but not when in reverse. It has made a great addition to his model bus collection. It's easy to operate and the headlights are much brighter than I was expecting. Would definitely recommend.

Broke After 6 months and barely any use!
Very disappointed with this item. Bought it for my son’s 6 birthday and he’s only used it a handful of times as I rotate his use of toys and it had been in the garage most of the summer. Changed the batteries and it worked fine for 5 mins before the wheels stopped turning and it wouldn’t move. It sounds like the drive shaft motor is not powering the wheels so it’s now useless- can’t get hold of the Seller for a refund or replacement either. My little boy is is so disappointed 😔
