An excellent buy!
Had read that 'Bluetooth GPS' is a good (free) app for Android devices and downloaded it from Playstore for my Moto G phone and Samsung tablet. It connected to both by bluetooth immediately. Although I have seen reviews that say the RCV 3000 is only a data logger and will not give real time mapping it does and works faultlessly with Bluetooth GPS and also with View Ranger.Connecting to the PC was a little fiddly, it used, or at least tried to use, a native Win 10 driver and I had to go into Device Manager to uninstall that and then load the downloaded Holux files. I also downloaded 'Holux logger'. It wouldn't connect to this but 'ezTour' works very well (It's not immediately obvious but the software key for this is on a label stuck to the enclosed Quick Guide). The unit is much more sensitive than my phone GPS and even works inside a lot of buildings. An excellent buy!

If you can get this working you're a better man than me!
If I could award 0 stars I would. The instructions are useless and the first thing it asks me do when connected is enter a PIN number which I cannot find - I still have all the packaging and tried the SN and PN on the flyer plus the software code. I tried several times to contact the manufacturer but no response, I will be looking for a refund if this continues beyond the week.

Connecting to a PC with USB
Very small and appears to work well when able to get the GPX files off the device. The problem is connecting it to the computer. Finally managed to do this by doing the following:1. Visit the Holux website and in the support area find the RCV-3000 section.2. Download the Driver for Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10. The zip file contains the folder 'Win10_8_7_XP'.3. Extract the zip file to the Driver folder where the program 'HOLUX ezTour for Logger' is installed.4. Connect the HOLUX RCV-3000 by USB cable to Window PC.5. Run the program 'HOLUX ezTour for Logger' and select the menu option File>Config GPS.6. Select the 'Auto Scan GPS Module' radio button and then click the 'Connect' button.7. The Holux RCV-3000 should now be connected to the PC.

Can extract Latitude & Longitude from the resulting data.
I wanted a GPS data logger that I could extract the co-ordinates from. Using this unit I'm able to down load the collected data to the attached program then save it as a file which allows me to open it in MSWord and extract the data I want to resave in a different file or export to Excel to use in photo titles.

Device OKish, manufacturers web site offline, stupid software
I got the device but none of the web addresses in the brochure work. You can get to the hololux page, but none of the download or support pages are available. The device charged OK, and locked to GPS in unfavourable conditions very quickly. To further test it I needed the softwar that I could not get from the sources in the pamphlet. I found a 2017 verison on a download library, virus scanned it, and installed it. It cheerfully accepted the product key from the pamplet.I was not able to communicate with the device by USB, probably the same FTDI driver issue that Windows 8 and 10 has with so many of these USB-serial simulators. But I could connect by bluetooth, and was able to transfer a track, albeit slowly. I don't know how long a whole day's track will take. We wil see.The 2017 version of the software accessed the data, and I could save it as a .gpx file without problems. This is what I actually wanted to do, I don't need all the other functions of the software.Which is just as well, as the version I had does not work properly with Google Maps. If the manufacturer ever puts their web site back up, I may try a current version.I think the device could do with a hanging loop or method of attaching it to a camera strap. In summary then, the bit I paid for works, but the software you need to make use of it is a bit of a problem.

Good device bud badly let down by abysmal software support
The device itself is fine and merits five stars. One star however has been deducted because it does not come packaged with any driver software. And a further star has been deducted because Holux do not give any meaningful instructions on how to download said software from the web. Without a driver the device will not connect to your computer, although I suppose nowadays it will be of some use connected by Bluetooth to a mobile phone - that seems to work well enough provided you can find good apps to support it.

Fast and reliable
Works flawlessly with my LG G3...GPS satellite reception is always available anywhere in the city regardless the weather or the surroundings. It can even gets sat signal inside my house (3rd floor out of 5) whereas the G3's own antenna can't sustain a valid GPS signal in the open road!!!

Maps not available in software. Do not Buy.
Holux websites no longer exist. Holux do not pay google for use of maps. Google maps are not available making software useless and tracker unusable
