I was always relatively sceptical of resistance bands and their virtues, but having been recommended them by a friend I thought I would give them a try.The main benefits are that they're affordable and travel-friendly so you can bring them with you on holiday when there's no gym in the vicinity. Speaking of my scepticism, what went some way towards changing my mind was looking up some studies showing a comparison between resistance bands and free weights. I was pleasantly surprised by findings such as Colado et al. (2010), with the researchers determining the effects being at parity with free weights in terms of building fitness.I was also at a loss as to what kind of exercises to do, but following @hardy.fitness on instagram gave me plenty of examples. I actually had a few questions and the team there were really helpful. Looking forward to see what they bring out next.

The bands are a lot smaller than expected but are high quality. I was a little disappointed at the resistance of these bands and I think I'll only find use for the strongest one at best. Having said that I do lift weights 4x per week and train martial arts (Muay Thai kickboxing and BJJ), so I may be more active than the average customer. These would definitely be good for a beginner looking to work those small and often neglected muscles.

I have recently started at the gym and decided I wanted to do some extra excercise at home and excercise bands were recommended as they are simple and effective to use and don't take up loads of bulky storage space.There are four colour coded bands of different strengths for all levels and they have a great little pouch to house them inThey are great to use and I have even started taking them along to my yoga classes with me.Love the fact that they are supporting a wonderful charity as well which always helps in aiding decisions.

These are a very portable set of bands and the bag they fit in is tiny and so they really are something you can take anywhere.There is a downside to this, the four strengths are very weak. Only the strongest one, the black, proved any resistance for me whatsoever.Now I'm a man, but I'm an unfit man so I'm certainly not saying I'm the hulk but these are just too light for any use.Are they just for women then? Well, sexism aside, I still doubt it although perhaps the thicker two might prove some resistance if wrapped around or doubled up but the only use I can really see for these is perhaps gentle rehabilitation.There are no instructions, instead you are prompted to social media where you see amazingly toned women in poses by the swimming pool using these bands... not entirely helpful.What I did like about these was the size, they are big enough to hold in your hands and do stretches and lunges and fit in a amazingly small pouch, if they bought out a heavier range I would genuinely be interested but this one is just too light for purpose I'm afraid.
