Would watch for anyone who is working/worked in sales
Thought this was an incredible movie. It has a complex story to it, but it shows how most sales industries operate. it has a lot of strong messaging on how to be a top sales person. Great watch.

Great HD picture on Blu Ray; but NO extras, not even a menu!
Loved this film when I first saw it in theaters, and I have the wonderful DVD, which contains several good extras--deleted scenes, actor bios, some other stuff. The DVD's picture quality is fantastic--beautiful, very sharp, new-looking-- on older, tube TVs. But only "good-to-excellent" on HD TVs.So, I bought the Blu Ray for my HD TV. As the title of my review states, it has a beautiful, sharp, brand-new-looking picture on my HD TV, and great sound, too. But, NO menu, NO extras, NOTHING besides the movie. It is also 19 seconds shorter than the film on the DVD, but this Blu-Ray version's lost 19 seconds is ONLY the deleted, 19-second graphic screen before the beginning of the movie that tells viewers that this is purely fictitious, the characters are not real people, etc. The actual filmed movie is 100% intact. The Blu Ray is made in Canada, and the artwork and description on the back of the case are about 90% American style, 10% not.The verdict: definitely buy the DVD for an older tube TV, but for HD, you may want both the DVD and the Blu Ray. The Blu Ray's picture looks brighter and sharper on my new 55" HD TV, but I like the extras--available only on the DVD.In Amazon's product description for this Blu Ray, it says: "Special Features: Interactive Menus/Chapter Search, Alternate Endings, Theatrical Trailer, Interactive Film Trivia, Filmography, Deleted Scenes, Original Screenplay." -- -- BUT I repeat, that is ALL wrong; there are NO extras on the Blu Ray, AND IT TELLS YOU SO WHEN YOU PUT IT IN THE BR PLAYER AND A MESSAGE APPEARS ONSCREEN SAYING THAT THERE IS NO MENU!

Financial Heat
The Boiler Room dvd has photo images of Vin Diesel, Giovanni Ribisi, and Nia Long on the front of the dvd cover. With Nicky Katt also listed to be in the movie. I admit that Boiler Room is another film that I heard about via an e-mail connected to the office of Jordan Belfort. Due to obvious and understandable legal reasons, it is mentioned during the play of the dvd that Boiler Room is fiction. This is because one can easily see the obvious parallels between Wolf of Wall Street and Boiler Room The character of Seth Davis (Ribisi) just wants to make his father proud when it comes to eking out a living for himself. Davis sees opportunity when he gets hired at a stock brokerage firm, part of the appeal being is that he is a newcomer to working in the field. Seth Davis thrives in his job and even falls in love with a fellow coworker named Abbia (Nia Long). There are obvious references to the Glengarry Ross movie in Boiler room with referencing both the movie and the Always Be Closing phrase. There is even a cultural nod to the Wall Street movie (the character of Seth Davis is seen watching the Wall Street movie with his coworkers). I just seen his name on the back of the dvd cover, yet I admit that I did not know that Ben Affleck was in the Boiler Room film until I saw him in scenes involved with doing the hiring at the stock brokerage firm. Anyhow, things seem to be going along well for Davis until he convinces a purchasing manager at a Gourmet Foods Company to be a client. To exacerbate the situation, the gourmet foods purchasing manager is not just responsible for himself, but he is shown to be both a father and husband who is trying to place a large down payment on a home with his wife (therefore the stakes are even higher than if it was just him and his wife). The following are some of the features attributed to the Boiler Room dvd-the chance to play the movie with filmmaker commentary, isolated score with composer commentary by The Angel, deleted scenes/alternate ending, theatrical trailer, cast and crew filmographies. There are also dvd rom features of a script to screen that allows a read of the screenplay and original theatrical web site on the dvd and listed to be more.

A film about men wanting to make loads and loads of money
Giovanni Ribisi's Seth Davies moves effortlessly from illegal backroom 'casino' owner to successful cold calling amoral stockbroker in this no-nonsense exploration of unregulated capitalism in the 1990s. There are many notable performances in the testosterone filled environment of J.T. Marlin, a 'chop stock' brokerage firm who makes its profit through duping its investors to purchase worthless stocks of expired or fake companies, The narrative is brisk with a pulsating hip-hop soundtrack and the dialogue suitably scabrous and scathing. Although it doesn't quite reach the heights of Glengarry Glen Ross or Wall Street, it nevertheless is a valuable addition to the genre and brazenly pays homage to both films directly. Ben Affleck successfully mirrors Alec Baldwin when he gives a couple of belting inspirational speeches to his greedy acolytes while Gordon Gekko is mentioned on more than one occasion. I found this film through Amazon reviews and unhesitantly recommend it for at least one viewing.

Interesting
Most might say this wasn't much of a story but I liked it. I'm sure this kind of operation goes under the radar all the time.watch it and be aware.

Great story about redemption between fathers and sons.
The story comes straight out of all the Wall Street 'adventures' and disasters. It both involves and entertains you; a great lesson for anyone who thinks crooks are cool. Belongs right up there with The Wolf of Wall Street and will remain in my collection of 'business' dramas.
