I added this to a barn-style outdoor light that I rigged to my 12 v landscape lighting system. The bulb in the fixture is a 12 v but with an E26/27 standard screw base, dimmable. The dimmer does function but the range is half bright (estimate) to full bright. For my application, half way works appropriately, but if one is looking for a "mostly off" setting, this may not work, but in my situation, it may also be the bulb. Wiring was simple.

I installed this thing inside one of these "remodeling" blue switch boxes. First thing is that it will not fit if you want to put the housing box inside the blue box... I had to remove the housing and leave the circuitry loose inside... the positive side is cooling...The housing definitely could be half of its width.Works fine with a 24VCC power supply and two LED strips.Yes, the potentiometer can be removed so I just drilled a blank cover with a 1/4 and the secured the pot on to it. Then screwed the cover on the blue box. All is hidden.

I was building a light table and used two rolls of LED lights and it was almost blindingly bright. This dimmer fixed the problem. Now I can adjust the light level from almost off to blinding.If I have a complaint it's that 1) the dimmer doesn't have a true off position. The dimmer will effectively turn off the LEDs but doesn't have a true off position. 2) It would be nice to have a larger knob.Neither of these are deal killers and I'd gladly purchase another one for another project.
