LAMY is my go-to fountain pen brand!
As someone who loves fountain pens and owns many LAMY pens, the LAMY Safari Violet-Blackberry is an absolute standout in my collection. The deep, rich violet color with black accents looks stunning, and the signature Safari design is as comfortable as ever. The ergonomic grip makes writing effortless, even for long sessions, and the polished steel M nib glides smoothly across the page with just the right amount of ink flow.Like all LAMY Safari pens, it’s built to last, with a lightweight but durable body that feels great in hand. The ink cartridges and converter system make refilling easy, and the snap-on cap keeps it secure without fuss. It’s a perfect balance of style, function, and reliability.Whether jotting down notes or writing for pleasure, this pen makes every word feel special. Another fantastic addition to my LAMY collection!

Wonderful pen, glad I took the risk to try
Love these pens. Very light and easy on the wrists. I like the lightness because it helps me to write faster and with total ease. Doesn't feel flimsy for the lightness though. Ink quality of lovely. Only issues is you have to keep using or it dries out but this is the nature of fountain pens and not a fault of the product, just my use of it

Genuine Lamy product
I was afraid I will receive a counterfeit product after seeing a lot of folks on Reddit warning about fake Lamy products, there are even YT videos showing how to spot a fake Lamy. I followed all the instructions and my copy is original Lamy. I even compared it side to side to the copy of a friend who bought his from a reputable shop ,and they are identical in all details. Also the quality of writing is amazing, I wasn't expecting it to be so well made considering the price. It can cause issues to anyone not used to the triangle grip, but I personally adapted easily, you just need to keep it straight, it works best that way, and no side spinning as the models with rounded grip.

Writes smoothly for left hander - might prefer a round barrel
I ordered the Lamy 17-LH Safari Umbra pen on a whim, as I'm a left-handed underwriter and know that normal fountain pens can feel very scratchy as the nib is pushed (rather than pulled) across the page. I thought it was cheap enough to give it a go.It arrived on time in a small box within a slim cardboard packet - no unnecessary plastic or overpackaging which I was pleased about.I have to say my first impression on getting the pen out the box was disappointment. Years ago I had a metal Parker fountain pen and in comparison the plastic Lamy felt and looked rather cheap. Sturdy plastic, not fragile, and yes like the product photos - but still. However the Lamy was a much cheaper pen so only to be expected. It came with one blue-ink cartidge so I inserted this - needed a bit more pressure than I expected. When I started to write with the pen, I was amazed that it felt very smooth, the nib glided across the page with no scratchiness at all. I would happily put up with the looks for the writing experience.Apparently it's a medium nib, it's perfect for me as I prefer using narrow-ruled paper. However I'm still in two minds about the design. Where you hold the pen is round with two flat edges, so that your left forefinger rests at the bottom of the left edge and your thumb at the top of the right edge. This was designed to guide your fingers where to hold the pen to get the best nib angle to the page, and reduces finger fatigue when writing for long periods. Sometimes I find this helpful. However I have another pen (different design) currently filled with red ink. When I'm making study notes I tend to use the other pen for the headings and the Lamy for the body text. I notice the flattened barrel more when I'm swapping between pens, and it takes my fingers a while to get used to it again. If I'm purely using the Lamy then it's generally fine.Having said that, my 9 year old son (also left handed) likes the indents in the barrel and it is particularly useful for him as it means the nib is always at the correct angle, not twisted too far to one side.It would be nice if Lamy did a smooth barrel option as I'd like to try that to compare!Incidentally I wanted a converter to use bottled ink rather than cartridges, but had to do a bit of research before I found which was compatible with this pen, as it's not obvious from the listing. I ordered the Lamy Z28-Z24converter which works great, I've currently refilled it with Waterman Serenity Blue and it's still very smooth writing.Overall I am happy with this pen, I may buy the same in another colour (with another converter) so I can have two ink colours without the different barrels causing finger confusion.

Great item!
Beautiful pen! I bought it along with the ink converter z24, which fit perfectly and easily. Once I managed to find the right ink for sketching, it flowed smoothly across the paper. Very comfortable to hold and sturdy too. I particularly like the fine nib that it came with.
