Metalworker's Data Book: No. 42 (Workshop Practice)

This is one of the most useful books I have ever used, so much more than just a book 📖,Of tables. I bought another book the same as this.

Great data book load of info

A very useful and up-to-date reference manual for workshop use.I have two reservations:1. The so-called 'perfect binding' - which is anything but 'perfect' - is completely unsuited to a reference manual of this type. The book should be ring-bound and I would cheerfully have paid more for a ring-bound version.2. The typefaces used are poorly chosen and are too small.Otherwise, I am very pleased with my purchase.

This book is essential for anyone working in engineering, who uses drills, nuts and bolts. The contents are very comprehensive and exceeded my expectations. I hate clichés , but this is a "Bible" for metalworking.

This is not a book to read from cover to cover unless your Data from startreck. It is chock full of useful information with conversions between metric and imperials with closest matches included. If you are big with threads, diameters, etc. it is worth while owning a copy. Even if you only need a glance at it once a year it is worth it for the price.

The item arrived promptly to time and was far better with more detail enclosed than I expected. Excelent

I bought this book, not for a particular need but because I wanted a reference book on the shelf, handy, should I need data quickly.I am a little disappointed in the contents. I looked for fundamental information on materials such as coefficients of expansion but such information is missing. In fact there is little basic information about the physical properties of metals and alloys. I expected a lot more about metals such as composition of alloys, and such physical properties as hardness, conductivity and tensile strength. I understand there are too many characteristics and too many materials to try to list everything but there is value in discussing these characteristics, discussing the measurement scales and showing relative values.There is some very basic information about electric motors and even the colour coding of resistors; not what I expected to find in this book.

The order for Metalworkers Data Book, is good and worth the money, and as usual Amazon were very good on the ordering and details of the order, And looking after the payment, M G B Ennis

The basic downfall of this series is the fact that it is heavily removed from the world we live in. Not only are most of the books based on old data, technology, and techniques (an believe me I WANT that in these books), many of the texts are written in English, real English and they use words and phrases for everyday items that have to be translated to North American terms and much of the formulae for finishes or colouring contain chemicals that are now difficult to get.If you can get you head around that, invest some time into translating it, then you'll be great. The tips and techniques, however, should NEVER be lost.

Great book with a lot of information.

Sehr gutes Tabellenbuch für jemand der nur die wichtigsten praxisbezogenen Tabellen braucht und keine 200 Seiten von denen er 95% eh nie braucht..hab auch richtige grosses Tabellenbuch schau aber immer zuerst hier nach den die Erklärungen zur Verwendung derselben sind absolut eine wichtige Quelle und beweisen wieder mal den grossen Sachverstand des Autors Harold Hall,der ja schon viele Bücher über Metallbearbearbeitung verfasst hat was hier gut spürbar ist...alle wichtigen im Alltag immer wieder nutzbaren Tabellen wurden hier schnell nutzbar zusammengetragen immer metrisch und zöllig
