As other reviewers said... it's used....so take it as given that it huiwill show a little wear. Some small rust on the steel clips and buckles and a little discoloration on the leather. I gave it a quick wash and waxed the leather and have to say... it looked pretty retro and cool.This is a great shoulder or back pack dependingd on how you attach the straps. The pouch for the bottle easily takes a one litre bottle and could fit larger I would say. It's stitched directly to the canvas so unless you are very rough I don't see the weight of a full bottle or general wear and tear causing any issues.Leather closure straps and steel buckles.... your not breaking this!Inside the flap there is a small pouch pocket with steel snaps and the main compartment has a small pouch inside it.Strong canvas...it's built to last and it has two straps/ loops underneath , obviously meant for carrying a bed roll or wool blanket, but just as useful for stowing a jacket. (Or blanket for a picnic)In summary , strong canvas, leather and steel fittings , built to last and loads of versatility due to strapping options mentioned. This will last forever and looks good on the trail or as a retro city bag.Just remember, its used so won't arrive pristine, but that adds to its charm for me!

Remember, this is a "used" bag. Grade 1 condition so it all works but can be, and in this case was, pretty worn. It was definately well used but all functioning! Frayed edges to the straps etc. Exactly as I wanted. I really like this bag. I think it looks good and is very practical as far as size and design goes. I wanted it primarily as a shoulder bag and it is easily adapted to that by moving a strap.It did smell badly of damp & mildew,.Very musty. I handwashed it to remove a couple of of leached rust stains from the clips and aired it for a couple of days. I didn't really mind this as I knew it was "used". And it was a tenner, and a great bag.Where it has lost a couple of stars here was to do with, not the very worn, used condition of the bag that I expected, but the used "retail" condition of the bag. Mine was full of rubbish and crumbs and the like. Easily emptied, turned inside out and brushed out but I didn't really expect to have to do that. It took a couple of minutes to do, not a problem, but to pass on to customer like that? Come on, guys!

Gorgeous bag, really well made. I just love it and use it for my dog walking. Two straps so it can be used as a shoulder bag - they are padded too or you can un-clip straps and turn it into a messenger bag. Has a bottle holder stitched int it so that can be kept inside or outside the bag. Has straps at the bottom to carry stuff like a rolled up towel or something similar. Everything about it is great, its tough and so well made. If you were to buy this new from a designer brand you'd be looking at big bucks and the quality from the fastener buttons to the strap clips wouldn't be anywhere near the same quality. Need a bag? Want one at a great price? You've just found it!PS If it smells a bit of mold, spray it with white vinegar and leave it an hour before washing. Vinegar kills the mold spores.

I was a bit weary at first when reading the previous comment as it seems to be a bit of a lucky dip. But I thought, it is only a tenner, let's see. And I have to say I am glad I went ahead with the purchase. The bag is in prime condition for its age (mine is from the 90's, it says it on the stamp inside the bag). There is a bit of rust on the clasps, and some slight discolouration on the back of the rucksack, but I think it adds to its vintage feel. The bag is in full working order, nothing is missing or broken. And yes there is a slight smell to it as if it had sat in a humid shed for too long, but it is so little noticeable that I am not even going to bother to wash the bag. Overall very pleased, I would recommend.

This is a great bag for the money - they do smell musty but the vinegar/washing trick works (as described by another reviewer). Perfect for days out etc.

a great tough daysack for either a days hill walking or carrying your work lunch and paperwork for the day, I like the attachment that's helps carrying a Nalgene flask that either sits inside or outside the bag, I just wish id have bought one of these when you could get them new !
