I bought two of these cups, expecting to use them as a bit of fun while watching the last season of Game of Thrones. However, even following the care instructions that come with the vessels, I cannot get rid of the strong smell of what can only be described as dung! Think of the filthiest farm you have ever been on, during muck spreading season, and concentrate that smell into the inside of a drinking cup. There is acknowledgement on the care instructions that an odour exists at first use, but I have tried the "fill them with beer and leave for 24 hours" trick. I have tried the "small amount of detergent and water to clean" and yet the smell appears to get worse when wet/damp. So, if I add any beverage to the cups, surely this smell will return? I am looking to find out how I go about returning these, as they are unusable.

The wooden base is poorly finished with many chips and small cracks. Where the handle meets the mug has a hairline crack. Also, it arrived dirty and scratched. Very disappointed...

Bought has a birthday gift. Husband loved it.
