I would say so. It fits my 5 year olds sizeable noggin’.

Yes it does! My son just turned 9 a few months back and he has an "average sized" head. It fit him perfectly. I think maybe why they are saying for older kids (not sure about the 4 yr old part, I would think it might slide down) but its "stretchy". Not like, grandma-knit stretchy, but the material gives. My daughter grabbed it and put it on, she's 27, and it fit her fine, too. Its solid material on the outside and fuzzy warm on the inside. Its really durable. If we could get the weather for Winter here, he'd be wearing it now! Its really worth the price! And his friends liked it too, when he wore it last Winter (NO SHARING HATS! Lol). If where you live is cold right now, get it!!! You won't be disappointed!
