Chemistry: An Introduction to General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry (8th Edition)

This was my first time studying Chemistry, and the book was excellent.It's intended to students in the health field (ie nursing), and their applications are wonderful.A little heavy on the exercises, but better too much than too little. It would do well to include more answers to the practice questions, but that's how they get you to buy the Study Guide. Oh well.

ok, so i have a genetic engineering and pharmaceutical background. i bought a few of these books for some high school students i was mentoring, heck they were less than 25 cents each!!!! lets face it folks, unless you are designing some new organometalic synthetic catalysis pathways of the transition metals, or new drug discover, high school and college organic chemistry IS HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. To think that a new edition is an advance of the field at that remedial level is just a marketing ploy. so back to this book, it is a great introductory book to skim and see basic ideas in organic chemistry. this book's target audience is for those needing intro first before the "advanced" organic chemistry of the 4 year universities. if you want your kid to be a superstar, get him/her this book for 25 cents or whatever the cheap cost is, and have them read it over the summer. then when real o-chem comes along, they will be super prepared. expect the books to look used, some are written in, but who the heck cares, they are 25 cents. as a part time educator, mentor, and scientist clinician, i recommend this book to you and your kids interested in the sciences.
