Excellent review
I have a PhD in Linguistics and took many TESL courses in my MA program. This book is very useful because it has excellent summaries for all aspects of what the Praxis test covers. It’s quite succinct and the questions at the end of each chapters are important. I wish there were more questions there at the end of each chapter, but readers who really study the chapters should ace the test practices at the end of the book anyway. I think the best way for those who are not familiar with either Linguistics or Second Language Acquisition theories should study the chapter, answer the question at the end of the chapter, and then do the practice questions at the end of the book. Then check the answers to see what area the mistakes involve, then study the chapter again. Repeat that for each chapter.

Although other reviewers did not like its practice questions
I felt very prepared for this exam. Although other reviewers did not like its practice questions, I have never taken a Praxis exam where there was a noticeable amount of comparable questions in both the review book and on the exam. This exam was lengthy when I took it. It took me all 120 minutes for all 120 questions. I did not get a score at the end because it was a new version. I did have a very good raw score and waiting 3 weeks isn't going to kill me.**update on 2/18/18, scored 173**

Missing some important content, theories and theorists
I gave this test today, here is my review of the book: There were some concepts, theories, and theorists that were not explained in this book, that were asked in the Praxis Test (Vygotsky, assimilation, immersion, acculturation, among others). This book did help me a lot, but I would also suggest getting the practice test from the Praxis webpage, it’s $20 but it was worth it to see the type of content and questions the real test would ask, and what concepts are missing from this book.A good thing about the book (and the online practice test that I mentioned above) is that on the practice questions in between and at the end of the book, they explain why the alternatives are correct or incorrect. This explanations sometimes helped me understand better or gave more information about the concepts and theories explained in the book.ETA: I passed the test!

I like the test preparation document for ESOL in the sense ...
I like the test preparation document for ESOL in the sense that it contains all the sections of the actual test. More importantly, the book does a good job touching on every element in a very concise way, that is, I easily revise the essentials of linguistics courses, the foundations of language learning and acquisition and the planning/implementing of instruction. The only thing I would improve in the book is to have more sample questions after each major section. This book is to recommend to anyone who prepares for the ESOL test.

I passed the first time!
I got the study guide to take the ESOL Praxis. The tests at the end of the book, AND throughout the book were extremely helpful. I did supplement by watching YouTube videos about unfamiliar topics and some grammar I had forgotten, but that's because I'm such a visual learner. This book will show you where you are falling short, so you can focus your efforts. I got a 185. Very happy!! Gracias!

Good tool
I rate it 5 stars. I am enjoying having a hard copy study guide with bold print vocabulary. An improvement for me would have been having the answers to the sample questions throughout the chapter hidden--either on another page or upside down on the bottom. It was distracting to me to have the answers right there when I tried to test my knowledge.

Typos galore but some good content
Although I passed the Praxis with this, it has many typos and I found some of the sections to be repetitive or in an awkward order. For example, where does chapter 2 start? There is a definite beginning for the other chapters but no identification of where chapter 2 begins. Also, some parts jumped around a lot. The practice questions in each chapter were either way too easy or did not relate to the content of that chapter. Despite that though, most of the content is relevant and it got me a passing score.

My main source for studying and I passed easily!
I used this study guide, as well as a much shorter guide I purchased from teacherspayteachers.com (which covered a couple of things that weren't in this), and I passed the Praxis with a score of 190. If you study this thoroughly, you will definitely pass. I found the practice questions to be indicative of the actual test and I felt very prepared.
