Sugarcane maybe. This device works best on solid wood and not so good on greens. I hope that answers your question. **Q: can this be used for dicing up plastic? such as plastic water / milk bottles, caps etc?** A: It's intended for fibrous plant material, and although I expect it could chew up plastics I wouldn't want to risk the blade of my machine. Why would you want to do this when you could just send plastics to recycling? **Q: Is the current model made in China?** A: I can't find any reference to country of origin on the casing of the visible internal parts. I believe it is either Chinese or korean. In any event don't buy it. This is a VERY poorly thought out design.
