A fun educational game in great packaging!
We already have one of the educational games by Logic Roots ("OceanRaiders") which my 5 year old and I love and really enjoy playing. I also have a 3 year old so I was looking for something more suitable for her age and "Outnumber" seemed to be ideal.Educational games are such a good way to help children learn and practice important skills while playing and having funThe card game arrived complete with instructions packaged in a house-shaped box which I thought was a really fun presentation. It also makes a nice storage solution when the cards are not in use and looks a bit more interesting than just a box."Outnumber" consists of 20 Number Cards, 20 Number Name Cards, 20 Counting Cards and 1 Rule Book. The aim of the game is to encourage number recognition by personifying numbers and help with four different number skills: identification, retention, sequencing and counting. The game has number cards ranging from 1 to 20 . Each number family comes with three cards which shows the actual number, the number written as a word and the number as count. The instructions are well written and easy to understand and talk you through 2 games: "Mat Match" and "Young Whale". The first game is about creating matching pairs by turning over facedown cards. You are able to incorporate the third set of cards for more complexity. The aim of the second game is also to collect the most cards. This time, the cards are distributed evenly between the players and whoever turns over the card with the highest value gets to keep the lot. Both games are easy to understand and my kids enjoyed playing both variations. Again, I feel this game was perhaps more suited for my 5 year old but I like the fact that it familiarises my 3 year old with numbers and with a little help she was able to join in too. I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the illustrations of the cards and would have preferred them simpler, bolder and more contemporary looking but this might just be personal preference. The print on the back of the cards seems a little off centre on some cards so that the "R" in "OUTNUMBER" gets cut off a tiny bit. The cards itself are nice and chunky and easy to hold.I did feel that the objective of linking certain characteristics to numbers was a little lost in the actual games but I suppose kids will make these mental connections as they look at the cards during play. All in all this is a fun little card game and I especially like the fact that it includes 3 sets of cards so you are able to increase complexity and work on different levels. My kids love the game and I'm sure it'll be something we will reach for a lot!

Great little game
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Great little game. To be honest I thought it would be easy for my daughter, but actually she isn't used to seeing numbers written down in letter form. Lovely seeing her confidence rise while playing this game. She started off sounding out numbers slowly, but by the end of the game she was understanding 'teen' on the end of most 2 digit numbers.- comes in lovely little box, sadly ours arrived a little damaged.- 2 games included on instructions ( leaflet is a little 'home printer' style, but doesn't affect it's use)- cards are lovely printed with high gloss finish and clear imagesI really like this game I would recommend it.
