Returned two sets because they don't work
Really disappointed. Our Tiggly Shapes are great and we haven't had any problems with them. First set of Tiggly Maths didn't work so returned them and asked for another set. Just packaged that set up for collection as the three and the five don't work. Can play the apps without the counters so will continue to do so. Delivery of both sets was quicker than originally stated. Easy to return although annoyed that the shop where I dropped off the first set is no longer an option.

Super disappointed... it didnt ever work properly, the number lines didn't register at all with the iPad, I tried two iPads! I didn't get round to returning it but wish I had as it's sat on the shelf completely in-useable!

Interesting idea
I was fortunate to try this item for free and my two children enjoyed trying it out. It is a great idea to link physical products to a virtual app although I do struggle a little to see how beneficial the rods are to the apps. The 3 apps that come as part of the product are really well animated and easy to use, the colours and pictures and concepts are very engaging to all (including adults). They can be used with or without the rods which is handy if you don't have the rods or the child is not able to use them. My 6 year old found all the games very easy and was able to link her knowledge of numbers to the rods and identify which one was which. My almost 3 year old couldn't obviously so it was better for her not to use them although she is a bit young for the games in general. The rods were well made and worked well, I was a little concerned how responsive they might be but we never had an issue. They are tactile and soft plastic texture on the outside but robust enough for little hands that can be a bit rough at times. You do need to work at a table or flat surface to get best use out of these so they are not ideal for sitting at a chair or travel. I also wonder how useful the game would be if any went missing, not sure if they are replaceable although they do come with a handy little drawstring bag. The Tiggly adventure game was best for my oldest child and I look forward to trying these with my younger child as she grows to get best use of them. The tiggly chef was most fun for both of them although a little tricky for the youngest, suited maybe for 4/5 year olds I think. We did have the odd case of the app closing during the chef game by itself so hopefully this will be fixed.

Enthralling for three year old
We got this for free to try out and my three year old was very enthralled. It took a while to get used to it, as it is a different concept, using the 'rods' or blocks on the screen. It could maybe benefit from a little more preamble and instruction for the lower age range (and me!). She loved the aliens and their journey up to space to see its grandma and dad, as she described them. She got the knack of the number sequencing pretty quickly, being a fan of Umizoomi and similar programmes already. The app seemed to have only two levels, though I see from other reviewers that there are three apps to try. I look forward to trying these with my pre-schooler and seeing what her big sister who is five thinks of it. I see that it is described as being for up to sevens in the blurb on the product screen, but up to four further down the page in the manufacturer's description. Recommended and I will update this review when we have had another go.

Something I've never seen before!
Something unusual happened when we played with Tiggly Chef. My 6 and 2 year old and their 5 and 2 year old friends played beautifully and cooperatively and were completely enthralled in the game! If that isn’t a strong enough recommendation of Tiggly Maths, here are some more details…Tiggly Chef gives children the opportunity to practice a wide range of skills - fine motor control, reflexes, number recognition, number bonds, counting and following instructions. It’s a really engaging app and children won’t realise that there’s any ulterior motive to letting them play it! I particularly liked the fact we could practice number bonds visually, as my son struggles to recognise some numerals (namely 6 and 8). The app also prompted us to talk about food, including some ingredients that we don’t normally use. My 6 year old loved making unusual combinations. Once the food is cooked, the chef gives the dish a name and presents it on a plate. There’s the chance to record children talking about what it tasted like. Lemon bacon roller crunch was a favourite with our mini chefs! We also tried out Tiggly Cardtoons. This app looks lovely, but couldn’t really compete with the other two apps and the children kept switching back to them. The target age range for this app is 3-4 so I think we are too young/ old for this for now. I look forward to playing with this app with my toddler soon.Tiggly Addventures was lots of fun. My 6 and 2 year old played together with this for a while, helping Tiggly build bridges and ladders. Although my 6 year old’s maths skill aren’t quite up to using this app independently, he enjoyed playing with the app as a game of luck rather than skill (ie randomly placing the counting blocks on the screen to make the bridges). The app prompted some conversations about number bonds and I can see that this app will be really useful for us in the next year or so as he gets to grips with addition and multiplication. We tried the first few levels and the puzzles got progressively harder, so I think this app would challenge a wide age range. You could make the puzzles even harder by removing one of the counting blocks to make children think more about number bonds. As with all the Tiggly apps, I really like the ability to turn off the music and sounds off, while keeping the voice prompts on.We were sent a bag of Tiggly Maths blocks to review. The blocks are magnetic, which means you can use them as a standalone learning resource. In all of the apps we tried out, the Tiggly Maths blocks really enhanced the app. My son concentrates better if his hands are occupied and the blocks are really nice to hold and easy to grip. They also encouraged cooperative play when used in a group.
