Shocking quality. Returned.
As avid Scrabble players, (1000+ games and counting), bought this is a gift for my wife's birthday. Both of us were VERY disappointed at the build quality. A box that would disintegrate because of being corrugated and not strong. A printed cardboard surface that had air bubbles in several places. The playboard wasn't even glued in straight - with creases as the edges.otherwise, the wooden finish, letters, and proper higher boundaries between tiles was ideal, but when you're spending £80 on a board, shoddy cardboard, creases and air bubbles is just not good enough. Find the person in charge of quality control on this product and demote them to the tea trolley. Returned the product straight away,

Terrible turntable undermines the product
Decent enough product that is crippled by a cheap ‘turntable.’ The mechanism is simply a single ball bearing in the centre of the underside. This means that the board wobbles all over the place, as it has only one central point of contact with the table. This could have been completely avoided if the manufacturer had instead placed four ball bearings, one at each corner. An astonishingly poor product design choice that makes the game an irritation to play.

Badly made, cheap, tacky and certainly not worth your money!!
This product promises so much but does not deliver. The box and board are a generic item designed for several different games. This in itself is not an issue, but the fit and finish is far from perfect. The lacquer on the lower part of the box has run in several places which makes it look somewhat untidy. The tiles themselves are ok, but many have an off centre printed letter, which again makes the price seem utterly absurd.Included in the box are 4 stands (these are reasonably well made), a score pad and pencil, and an egg timer. The timer is a pointless addition, designed to stop people taking too long on their turn.At the start of a turn, flip the timer upside down, and if the player has not placed a word when the timer runs out, they forfeit their turn.Of course, this only works if the timer is allowed to run out between turns, otherwise the next player has ot wait for the timer to run out the rest of the way before they can start their turn. The cloth bag for the tiles is again ok, but it is so small that the only way to draw a tile without seeing it is to play the bag behind your back. The size of the bag also makes it impossible to properly mix the tiles up, and with the tiny amount of space between the lower frame of the box and the lid, the tile bag will not fit properly into the box with the score pad unless all the tiles in the bag are perfectly flat. The board itself is fine, although in the pictures, it seems like the raised bevel between the tiles is made from metal - it's not, the whole board is moulded plastic, which in itself isn't an issue however at the price, I would expect better build quality. When a product includes the name 'Prestige', I expect it to be well made. This item uses a generic box (used in their Cluedo games as well, and very likely in many others), a reasonable injection moulded plastic board albeit with badly aligned printing, a tile bag that's too small, tiles that aren't the same size or printed in the centre.Don't waste your money - there is nothing prestige about this other than the price and the overinflated promise of quality.I love scrabble. It's by far my favourite board game, and I was hoping that this item would be a family board which we would be able to get many years of enjoyment from.Sadly, I won't be able to start enjoying playing again until I've gotten over the £80 I spent on this frankly insulting offering! If you want to play scrabble, buy the cheapest set you can get, and a small wooden turntable to place the board on.I cannot stress how much of a waste of money this "prestige" item is.

Promising, but a little disappointing
Great metal box, great board, but the letters were a big disappointment - smudged ink on some letters, chips on others and the X didn't have it's numbered value on it

Over-priced
Having fallen for the art deco styling and the idea of marbled tiles, my expectations were too high to be fulfilled by this version of the game. The tiles are an insipid grey and made of lightweight plastic; for the price, they could have been much more substantial and tactile. The print quality of the lettering is inconsistent across the tiles with some of the ink almost non-existent already. Worst of all, the board doesn't lie flat owing to it being folded into quarters inside the packaging. Buy the original version and save the embarrassment of being the owner of a very expensive tin.

A Design Classic
This version of the great word game is very well presented. The box is sumptuous and the design of both it and the inner detail (rear of rules card, panel on rear of board) are in keeping with the whole 1960s effect. The board is a four-fold style and the playing side is finished in really nice retro colours. You may have read other reviews which criticise the variance in letter tile sizes, this is a non-issue (the variance is quite small) unless you're so competetive that you memorise the smaller ones for advantage, at which point maybe you should question your motivation for playing the game :) The tiles are lovely, in a pale wood, light in weight and with plenty of space on the rack for your seven letters. The only downside? No score pad & pencil. Looking forward to some great family tournaments this Christmas.

Very clear tiles
I have the deluxe scrabble and this is no where near the quality. Bought for my grandma who’s eyesight is going, and she can see the tiles BUT, the placement of the tiles is actually quite fiddly. Even my mother had a bit of trouble. Still, you get used to it or I helped her a bit but worth mentioning in case you have mobility issues or motor function probs.

Retro Scrabble : such a beautifully presented version
Exactly what I was looking for. No issues, all the tiles are uniform and the presentation is fab, great quality. This set has saved me the headache of trying to source second hand vintage pieces for my plans to turn this into a wall mounted magnetic version for all the family to play. Feel a bit bad really, as it is such a beautifully presented game!If you're apprehensive after reading other reviews, don't forget you can return, thanks to Amazon's excellent customer services! I certainly will not be doing this 😀
