Review: Attractive item of good quality - I'll start by saying that I'm not normally a drinker of filtered coffee, but it seems easier on the stomach than my usual moka pot brew. Of the few pour over cones I've tried this one is easily the best quality of manufacture and the best looking. It also seems less fussy, I don't weigh coffee grounds, time water pouring or measure water precisely, nor do I take temperatures and believe it or not it still turns out acceptable coffee. Just don't use boiling water to make your coffee, pour your hot water in dribs and drabs and two tablespoons of grounds to get three quarters of mug-full seems good to me. The only negatives: buying filters over the internet as you aren't going to get them in your local supermarket. The coffee isn't that strong either, I thought it was just me so I went to one of our local more pretentious coffee joints and asked Mark (the ginger bearded) to show me how and after an age he produced better coffee but still lacking the bite and texture I normally get in my coffee (trapped in the filter?) so it lacks body and is missing an after-taste, to be fair some call this a nice clean cup along with a lack of gritty bits at the bottom of your cup!

**Q: Which size is better? 155 or 185?**
A: The 155 is small and makes a great single cup or 2. The 185 is for amounts that need more than 24 g of coffee. More than 16 oz of coffee at a time. I have both and use them both. I do like the 155 for single cup brewing.

**Q: what grind and type of coffee is best with this Kalita?**
A: The other answers must not be from people who understand that each morbid of brewing coffee requires a different grind. For pour over coffee, the best grind to use is a medium-coarse grind. A medium-coarse grind will be similar in size to a French press grind but less chunky and will feel slightly smoother. If you are using a cone-shaped pour over (with a smaller opening that the Kalita) then use a medium-fine coffee grind instead. In any case, you also want to be sure to pour the water over all the grounds, not just in the center, to ensure the grounds are all saturated to ensure a full extraction from all the beans.

**Q: What grade of stainless steel is it made of? 18/10? 18/8? 304? 316? or something else?**
A: I believe in Tsubame Japan where they are known for their metal work that 18/8 Stainless Steel in the norm.
Mine is durable, non-reactive and corrosion free. Love it!

**Q: Using gevalia fine grind in the 155. it drips well on the first pour of hot water, but stops dripping on the second pour. any suggestions? thank you.**
A: You cannot use fine grind coffee with this pour over. It is clogging up and there is no way around this, unfortunately. You must use coffee with a medium grind. If you can, look into buying a burr grinder, otherwise a standard medium coffee grind should do.
