Sherlock: A Study in Pink (Sherlock Holmes)

My friend bought me the manga of “The Great Game” for Christmas and after that I was hooked! I bought the other three books and am enjoying them so much! The great thing is, you can go onto where you can watch the show like U.K. Netflix, BBC Iplayer, etc, and play the episode in the background while reading! Then you can like, hear the book, it’s sick. It might take some time to get used to the format of how you read it, but it always goes from right to left if that helps, and there’s a page which shows you how to read at the first page on the left side of the book. Have fun and enjoy!

Not into graphic novels usually but really enjoyed this and bought the rest so off to read some more. The art is beautifully drawn and the story almost perfectly the show. Recommend to all fans

great story, well written and compliments the TV series well, my only issue which i didn't check at the time of buying is that its written backwards as the original manga should be, even though its written in English, for me this takes something away from the flow of reading it and feels unnatural, but that's just me

Exactly the same as the TV series, pretty much word for word. Good graphic illustration

I got this back in around 2017, loved it, and I'm now getting it for my nephew, who loves manga. Great way to introduce him to Sherlock Holmes.

Fácil lectura

Lo consiglio per chi vuole imparare l'inglese, perché avendo le figure si riesce a facilitare la comprensione del fumetto. La Saga bellissima.

Hay dos escenarios. Si como lector potencial no has tenido la oportunidad de ver la serie para televisión de la BBC este formato de manga-cómic vale la compra, dado que mantiene gran apego a historias y diálogos de la serie para tv.En un segundo escenario, si ya viste la serie de la BBC, no hay mucho nuevo bajo el sol (básicamente, es la misma historia en otro formato). En la versión contemporánea de Sherlock, una gran aportación de la serie de tv de la BBC es su narrativa visual. Los productores y directores apostaron a estilos y efectos visuales y de sonido poco convencionales en tv para reforzar momentos específicos de la historia (descubrimientos, comunicaciones, pensamientos, estados mentales y transiciones entre escenas, entre otros). Desde este contexto, habría esperado de la versión en manga-cómic un ejercicio igualmente aventurado en la narrativa gráfica, como las propuestas en su momento de Will Eisner con las portadas de “The Spirit” (1940-1952), o Winsor McCay con “Little Nemo in Slumberland” (1905-1926). Sin embargo, aunque esta versión de manga-cómic de Sherlock queda dentro de un estilo relativamente contemporáneo de gráfica, se limita a convenciones tradicionales para narrar gráficamente la historia, sin interés alguno por explorar nuevos caminos.Por último, desde junio del 2017 a la fecha de esta reseña (septiembre 2017), Panini Manga está editando para México y América Latina la versión en español (con buena traducción y calidad en el formato impreso) de Sherlock, que incluye éste y otros títulos posteriores de la serie, por casi la mitad de precio que las ediciones en inglés.
