I was hoping that this was the best choice of remote wireless electrical control and it IS!!! UPDATED!!
Update: I've only had these a short time, and #3 has failed totally. Neither power on or power off LED's light anymore, and the electricity of course no longer gets to the intended target. So, lowered my rating from a 5 star to a 3 star. It should have lasted longer than a couple of months.Original review follows here:It was interesting trying to find the right product for my needs, because the search on Amazon came up with similarly priced items, but the reviews of those items were not good at all. It was only by reading the reviews of the bad products, that somebody mentioned THIS product as being superior. And, they made me very happy! It pays to research. I should also point out that the disappointing products only included one plug and one remote for nearly the same price of this item, which has THREE plugs and a remote that can handle ALL of them. (this is a MUCH better deal, quality AND quantity)Unlike one other reviewer of this product, I did get switches 1-2-3 (he had gotten 1-2-2 in his shipment). I immediately tested all three of the remote plugins and they all worked perfectly. Oh, I did run into the same problem that others have had, that the battery insertion into the remote is difficult. The problem is that the v-shaped metal clip that presses on the positive end of the battery is poorly shaped, and tends to push the battery back out. But if you firmly get it in there, and do not jiggle anything when sliding the battery cover back on, then it's fine. The cover locks in place, so the "I wanna escape battery" is firmly imprisoned for life. :-)I then set up one of the plugs in my garage to control the lights on the exterior of the garage. Previously, every time I wanted the lights on or off, I had to open the garage door, which is a pain in my lazy behind. Now, I can stand in comfort (winter is coming, and it gets really cold here), in my living room and flip the lights on or off with a click of the switch. Some people said they had to flip the switch slowly, or repeatedly, to get the plug to turn on or off. That was NOT my experience. It works with a quick flip and is instantaneous. Now I have to figure out what to do with the other two plugs. I thought about exterior lighting around the deck rail, but the plug for that is outside, and this unit specifies that it's for inside usage only. (rain, snow, etc) One plug will be for my garage alarm. Sometimes I know when the garage door is open and needs to be. It's a pain to unplug the alarm which goes forever when the garage door is open. So, two down, one to go.

An Inexpensive Solution
August 2011 Update: Remotes still holding up well and haven't had to change batteries yet. Great purchase if you don't want to spend the money on home automation.I purchased this to control 4 mood lighting lamps around my media center and two low light floor lamps in the great room. After setting it up, it works flawlessly. The plug in units have a solid feel to their construction, but the remote seems pretty flimsy. I'll see how long it holds up.Note that when you insert the battery in the remote, you need to put it in evenly and not the conventional way of pushing in the "+" end and then sliding in the "-" end.The units will render the second of two inlets unusable for all if not most other plugs. I suppose you could get a surge protector and plug it in there if you needed the other wall outlet. The way I got 4 lamps connected to one unit required a some accessories, two extension cords (I could have made it work with just one) and two small 1 to 3 plug add ons. By using these I was able to get all 4 plugs running into the remote unit. These are low voltage lamps, so I'm not worried about any overload. Now I'm waiting for it to get dark so I can enjoy what I hope will be very cool lighting while I watch my large screen TV. If I don't like it I'll have to change the bulbs to a different wattage, but this item works great!I actually came to the site to look up this product and see if the remote signal was IR or RF in order to try to program these into my Harmony Remote, but the item description does not say which it is.Nov 2013 Update: Still works great after 2+ years. Sometimes you have to press 2-3 times to get it to act, but no big deal.

So far so good, but one big annoyance
This is my third set of wireless remote controls (different brand each time). This one is by far working the best and has the nicest remote. Even though the remote looks and feels cheap, trust me - all the other manufacturers of these type of outlets make even worse remotes. This one has one button for each outlet On/Off which is great (rather than one button for On and one button for Off - which is a nuisance in the dark trying to feel around for which one is off and on). This brand also has been the most consistent of the three when you press the button. The first set I bought barely worked when I pressed the buttons (I'd say less than 10% response rate). The 2nd set was a little better but you had to press the button more than once sometimes (maybe 50% response rate). The 2nd set also died after 5 months of use. This set is very responsive and I have yet to wait or press more than once to get the desired effect. The deduction of one star is due to the size of the outlets. They are very large, almost twice as large as some other brands. They also have the buttons and light on the top which effectively make the top outlet on a standard 2-outlet wall plate inaccessible for anything other than a 2-prong standard plug!!! I had a cordless phone plugged into an outlet that I had to move to another area of my bedroom to make room for the wireless outlet.I am hoping this set stands the test of time.

Love these
I originally got this as a tool for pet training but I also use it on a tall floor lamp that has no switch and my lamp on my night table. They are huge and take up a lot of space in the socket but they work great. Great buy.

Good value. Works beautifully.
This product was delivered promptly and works beautifully, just as I expected. I now can turn on the three side lights in our living room without having to go to each individually. I suppose in today's world, if that is my only problem, then I am doing all right!

The work great, and are very handy to have
I purchased these when I was going to be having surgery and knew my ability to bend over to get light switches on lamps, etc... would be compromised. They work great. I got two sets, one for home and one for my office. At the office they are so handy that I am still using them. It's nice to walk in and turn on my lights and white noise machine instantly. :)
